Panasonic - not pro perfection, but still a pleasing past time
22 July 2013
Excerpt: As a professional photographer I've never really had much of an interest in video – until last year I still owned a Sony Hi8 camcorder that used to be my mum's and hadn't been put to use for about 4 years. If ever the urge took me to video anything I'd do it on my little compact camera or more recently my Nikon D7000 SLR, however I don't find cameras sit comfortably in my hand for using when panning and zooming on video.
Pros: easy to use, fits well in hand, good quality results
Cons: software doesn't work with new computer systems ie . Windows 7/8, photos not great
Summary: It's second time I try video, I'm a photographer, I own a Nikon D300. Camcorder works perfectly, light, easy to use, but I'm disapointed with the colors, not vivid, more greyish (using Intelligent Auto Mode)and sharpness is an issue ! The 16x optical zoom works perfectly but will be wise to use a tripod, otherwise people will get seasick when looking at the film. I will explore it on next holidays.
Panasonic HDC-SD20, great compact HD camcored for less then $600

Excerpt: The Panasonic HDC-SD20 This is a great compact high definition camcorder for the price. The small design allows for easy travel, it can fit in your purse, a large pocket and doesn't take up much room in your luggage when going on vacation. Very light weight only 270g, made of plastic, in my opinion it looks a little cheep.
Pros: Some great features are the optical image stabilization and Intelligent Auto (iA) technology .
