Average hardware, horrible software makes a painful combination

Summary: The video taken by the camera is good, but doesn't stand out from that taken by any other HD camcorder. The software (HD Writer 2.5), on the other hand, is outstandingly bad. In the digital realm, software is inseparable from hardware (one is useless without the other), hence the entire package gets 2 stars. The software gives you limited editing options and is next to useless for making DVDs from recorded video.
Summary: The camera takes great shots. But the software it comes with to convert that video in to a DVD it just awful. It won't let you merge multiple clips. It's slow, proprietary and not at all intuitive. It really is bad enough to consider another camera.
Summary: Picture quality is great. However, downloading files into main editing suites like Adobe Premeire or Apple's FCP is NOT user friendly at all. HD software that came with the camera is also the hardest thing to use. Even though I own editing suites listed above I might have to buy a diff. editing suite to use this camera. Deleting files from this camera is also not so easy. Option to recored in a diff. format is not there.
Pros: Great Picture Quality
Cons: Complicated To Operate, Inadequate Features, Uncomfortable
Summary: I tested this camcorder for about a week. From a design point of view I did not like the fact that you have to remove the battery to connect it to AC power. The camcorder will not connect to a PC to download movies and pictures unless it is on AC power, so I had to plug/unplug the battery a lot while I was doing tests.
