Summary: I had 20+ years of experience working in the electronics field. I worked for Circuit City and The Good Guys! audio/video stores. When I wanted a new camcorder, I wanted one powerful enough to fulfill my demanding needs, but easy enough for my inexperienced wife to use. We went to Crater Lake and both used this camera to take both videos and still shots. This camera is one of the very best I have seen.
Great for interviews, web commercials, and short films.

Summary: This camera can be used for the videographer who's aspiring to become an indie filmmaker. This flagship camera ( Flagship Camera is a camera that looks like a consumer camera, but has functions needed for a prosumer user.) Shoots in cinema 24p mode, the focus ring a huge plus. Although if you decide to add a follow focus the lcd screen gets in the way. Great for the filmmaker on a budget. First appearance looks like a typical generic Walmart consumer camera.
Great product until it broke, extremely poor service

Summary: My Camcorder worked great until it broke after 7 1/2 months of light use. I then sent it to be repaired and I am still waiting for it to be returned after 2 1/2 months, which will be after the warranty expires. When I called their repair facility in San Carlos, CA,I was given short status reports after phoning and when I sent emails they never replied.
Summary: Panasonic did an incredible job of bring HD quality to a portable camcorder. The camera itself is pretty small making it very portable. The wind buffer is very good and filters out most if not all of the wind. It has a feature for when you are trying to capture a time senistive event that when applied that when you push the record button the camera actually captures about 15 secs prior to you pushing the button.
Summary: The picture quality is amazing for the price. This is replacing a professional 3-chip camera we originally purchased for commercial production. This camera could be used for either home or broadcast production. The tiny form factor didn't prevent Panasonic from giving the user manual control over most camera functions. The menu system is similar to many professional cameras, but uses a touch screen instead of a mini-joystick. We found the touch screen easier to use.
Summary: I bought this camera as the best in 2009 according to VideoMaker Magazine. It is truly high definition when you are near the subject, but if you are far away and use the digital zoom the image get pixeled. Very difficult to use the HDWriter Program that comes with it.
Summary: OK, So I have used this camcorder for about 1 week. I think the outdoor shots taken with this camcorder are top notch and look fantastic. I play them back via my PS3 using the USB port and a SD card adapter on my 46" Mitsubishi LCD TV. I also converted the videos to Apple TV format and they still look great. The indoor shooting seems to be best when you switch to manual. I would say these videos are good but not great.
Wonderful camera with lots of potential for the Indie filmmaker.

Summary: I've had this camera for about 2 months now and I'm very happy with it. This camera really shines in so many ways: stunning picture quality, ultra portable, lots of pro-type features and controls, fast and easy to use with a PC (unlike the HDV camcorders like the HV20, HV30, HV40 from Canon which still use tapes and require a slow capturing process).
