Amazing Value to break into HD!

Dennis R., Newegg
14 January 2008
  • Summary: For those understanding what it will take to get to HD at home - it's a "5". For those surpised by the new editing requirements for AVCHD - Blu Ray will be less than that. After hours of research, here's the top AVCHD after market compatible editing software I found recommended (Panasonic should...
  • Pros: Awesome High Def home movies! The 5.1 surround sound - (why did they not keep this on the 2nd generation?) EZ to navigate screens w/ toggle mouse 3" wide LCD screen EZ to find scenes/pics. I'm used to DV tapes of endless searching so this is quite an improvement Newegg extended warranties options...
  • Cons: Though the lithium battery will cover most avg. shooting lengths, price of 2nd battery as backup for long trips ($107 was the cheapest I could find); Not having even one media disk w/ camera Rear battery design looks awkward (Note to Panasonic design engineers - What would Apple do?) HD Video Edi...

Excellent considering the Price.

T. Singh "st", Amazon
27 December 2007
  • Summary: I bought this from Amazon over two weeks ago and used it to shoot about 2 hours of video in different places and conditions. I would rate this an excellent camera for the Price. Sure, there is stuff out there but considering the price that this is the cheapest Hi-Def.

Uncompatible

Anonymous, Newegg
21 December 2007
  • Summary: Another thing that detracts from this otherwise great camcorder is that the DVD record time is only 18 minutes at the highest quality. I think it's 36 at the lowest quality. I thought it might be possible to upload my video to my computer using my USB conection, wrong.
  • Pros: Very nice picture and sound.
  • Cons: Took me a while to figure out how to get video off of the camera. Basically, you can only record to a dvd. You can't record video to the SD/SDHC card. Once you've recorded to the DVD, it won't play in anything but a Blu-Ray DVD player, or a regular computer DVD player that has a software video ed...

Very nice feature for your money

Leo Gabriel, Amazon
8 November 2007
  • Summary: I bought this camera to compliment my 46 in. Samsung Full HD LCD TV. The picture was very nice although the 30 mins. limitation of the DVD writeable media and the need to finalize the disk was a setback.

No support

Kid at Heart, Amazon
28 October 2007
  • Summary: I purchased this camera at the very end of July, and briefly turned it on, but due to moving and wedding preparations, we never had much chance to really try it out. I tried to turn it back on about a month later, and found that it didn't work. It would start but then immediately shut off.

Stay away!!!

Daniel Fried, Amazon
28 October 2007
  • Summary: I got one a couple of years ago for pro use. 3 times the mini dvd was unformatable and I could not properly transfer my footage. I now need to get something more reliable and regret wasting my money on this. I used verbatim dvds (good quality) and about 10% could not even be recognized.
