HC-X920 plus and minus

guitarflight, B&H Photo
14 May 2015
  • Excerpt: This is early in the game of reviewing the product. I had a top of the line Sony consumer HD camera for 5 years bought from B & H which I used to death. On early use I found the zoom on this camera hard to get a gradual zoom.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality
  • Cons: No Internal Hard Drive, Zoom Not Easy

Excellent results, some limitations

Skitty, Adorama

  • Excerpt: The quality of video results compared with much more expensive equipment so is quite good. I compared it to a Sony AX100 in HD mode and it stands up well. The 5 channnel surround sound is a little thin and subject to wind so I added a Rode Video Mike Pro to be able to pick out voices in noisy...
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Large Clear LCD

Excellent Camera, but Still Consumer

  • Excerpt: I love this camera, but no matter how good it is, it does not even come close to yielding professional quality. The lens has soft focus and the video is noisy to the naked eye when viewed on a 46-inch monitor. (To be fair, I have a very high standard.
  • Pros: Easy to handle, Good Focus, Good Image Stabilization, Long recording time, Pretty good video quality
  • Cons: Focus Ring Inconvenient, Lens Too Soft, Video Too Noisy

Does not work well with iMovie

Dan R, B&H Photo
10 September 2014
  • Excerpt: It was not obvious from the product descriptions, and no one else mentioned it, that this camera will only upload to iMovie in a mode called iFrame. iFrame disables all creative options. You can only shoot straight video with no effects, not even time lapsed or B&W.
  • Pros: Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
  • Cons: Iframe Mode Very Limited, Only 1 Sd Card Slot

  • Summary: Nice Camcorder. The Videos are very vibrant even with AVCHD format. I have not set to 1080P since it consumes space and battery life but despite that the quality of video is awesome. The video stabilization is pretty good. Video shake has reduced considerably. Couple of complaints are 1.

Great pro-sumer camera for the price.

rotorleasing, Ebay

  • Summary: We have only used this for about 2 hours of video, but the results are very good. This is a pro-sumer camera with extensive manual settings. The white-balance is absolutely necessary and works as expected.

Recommended for any level

  • Excerpt: What I really like about the camera is the 3 cmos sensor. Great color and crisp images. This camera is simple to use and the o.i.s is really great for handheld. I like the 5.1 surround sound, I think its a lot better than most built in mics, but plugging in a microphone always works better.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
  • Cons: Poor In Low Light
