Excerpt: It was not obvious from the product descriptions, and no one else mentioned it, that this camera will only upload to iMovie in a mode called iFrame. iFrame disables all creative options. You can only shoot straight video with no effects, not even time lapsed or B&W. It seems like a decent camera other than that. The touch screen has a great picture and the extendable viewfinder is nice with a great picture as well.
Pros: Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Cons: Iframe Mode Very Limited, Only 1 Sd Card Slot
Summary: We have only used this for about 2 hours of video, but the results are very good. This is a pro-sumer camera with extensive manual settings. The white-balance is absolutely necessary and works as expected. Controls are easy to use, although I wish that I could control both the focus and zoom though separate rings rather than the single, multi-purpose ring. The tablet control app is almost there. It is a very good idea, but not quite what you need in remote controls.
Excerpt: What I really like about the camera is the 3 cmos sensor. Great color and crisp images. This camera is simple to use and the o.i.s is really great for handheld. I like the 5.1 surround sound, I think its a lot better than most built in mics, but plugging in a microphone always works better. Low light, eh. Its good but you get some noise. I am really disappointed in the video format options, you can only shoot at 60p/i.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Excerpt: Product arrived in good shape; works as spec'ed. Color is good. Chose this over comparable Sony [bought Sony for past 15 yrs] due to features/price. Wish it had FireWire; USB sux. WiFi feature isn't useful to me. Manual controls over focus, white balance, etc work well. Time lapse for video works fine, but, wish all the "creative controls" had more options/settings.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Large Clear LCD
Summary: I was actually surprised to film with this camera and see the remarkable quality of the picture. It does look a bit washed out in the picture, but i would assume they expect people to add color or effects to the image after the fact. It is also not really that bad, just a slight picture quality. Also it records to avchd format which could cause a problem for some people trying to work with the content.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Large Clear LCD
Excerpt: I bought two of these for weddings, instructional videos and church productions. They are part of a 4 camera set up... I tried out the "20MP" still photo feature- Very nice! Rich but not over saturated colors with nice detail in both highlights and shadows. Adobe Elements loves the big files! The video is marvelous(!) in church productions.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound
Cons: Lens Ring Focus Is Slow, Lens Ring Focus Is Too Sl, Lens Ring Zooms Too Slow
Summary: Let me start by saying that I really like this camera. The video quality is exceptional compared with the 5 year old HD Flash Samsung Vid Camera that this Panny replaced. The camera is easy to use, responsive and is generally a great piece of gear. With all of the various adjustable features, especially on the video side, Panasonic missed one important feature. There is no ability to mute the recorded audio.
