Summary: I don't have a whole lot of experience with all the features and capabilities of this camera. After taking a few different videos, I hooked the camera up to the TV and the color seemed off. I tried different modes and couldn't figure it out. However, after downloading the videos to my computer, the color seems spot on. I don't know what that is about, but just a heads up to anyone experiencing the same thing.
Summary: I really love this camera. Before buying I looked up several videos on youtube and this camera stood out even when compared to high end camcorders. I bought its and used it for a while but had to return it because of the zoom noise. I used it for a video tutorial, on a tripod in a quiet environment and during playback the zoom noise was too much because the mic sits in front of the lens, I had no choice than to return it. You can buy an external mic to eliminate it.
Summary: I have been quite satisfied with this Panasonic camera. I bought it so that I could take indoor movies with just the light that is available (no extra lighting), and it has performed well under these circumstances. My only disappointment is small--it's most robust recording will not work with my Apple computer. But it does have an iFrame setting that can be used with a Mac, and I have found it quite satisfactory both in quality and functionality.
Summary: Simple to use and the picture quality is good although I am using the I Picture format which is not the best quality picture that this camcorder is capable of producing. I am using this format with the camcorder instead of the 1080p format because I am going to edit using my Macbook Air I Movie editing program.
Some Concerns, But I Think I Can Recommend It. Read Details Below.

Summary: Brain Dump Follows: Well, I'm keeping it, but I have some concerns. Today is the last day for me to return it and when I was outside today in the cold shooting some footage, for the first time there was some lateral image shake when zooming at the maximum speed. I also noticed for the first time today that when you zoom at the maximum speed, (something which you would rarely do unless you are frequently filming fleeing perpetrators), there is a motor/gear noise faintly...
Summary: I'm very pleased with the picture quality and sound, but a little disappointed with it poor interface with the Mac computer. It's advertised as fully compatible with iMovie. What they didn't say was that it was at lower resolution.
Summary: Good wide lens. Zoom is great. Size small. Picture is very clear and focused. Some of the icons for scene selection are not very intuitive. A miniHDMI cabli is NOT included, so can not connect directly with TV without buying one. But plays back beautifully if you get one. Have not tried editing. Mainly used for soccer recording, works fine...no noticeable hand shake. Audio, not really tested.
Summary: We purchased this camera to film school sports for airing on TV. This little camera does the job very well! I was not excited about touch screen controls, but this has turned out not to be a big problem as the menus have large "buttons", so it's easier to use for those with long fingernails. The large internal memory is very helpful. Only complaints on a pro-level; hard to find the more advanced controls for memory, white balance, focus and lighting-all else in awesome.
Consider Mac IMovie 11 issues before buying--update

Summary: I just bought this camcorder and careful reading of the owner's manual (page 62) reveals that this camera is compatible with Mac editing in I Movie only when recorded in iFrame mode. According to the Apple site [...] iFrame produces 720 video, not 1080. So if you plan to use a Mac to edit your video, it appears that you will get barely HD quality. I believe that the disclosure by Panasonic should have been much more up front about this issue.
Great Camera - Wind Cancellation doesn't really work

Summary: Purchased Panasonic HC-V700M w/16Gb resident memory. The picture image is great, even on a 55" TV. The OIS stabilizer is the best I've seen. LOVE the HDMI port and the separate microphone jack. I bought this camera specifically for the wind cancellation, but it doesn't really work. I will order the separate microphone with the windless. After a week of playing with it, that's the only thing I was disappointed with. I would still highly recommend this camera.
