Summary: I don't have a whole lot of experience with all the features and capabilities of this camera. After taking a few different videos, I hooked the camera up to the TV and the color seemed off. I tried different modes and couldn't figure it out. However, after downloading the videos to my computer, the color seems spot on. I don't know what that is about, but just a heads up to anyone experiencing the same thing.
Summary: I really love this camera. Before buying I looked up several videos on youtube and this camera stood out even when compared to high end camcorders. I bought its and used it for a while but had to return it because of the zoom noise. I used it for a video tutorial, on a tripod in a quiet environment and during playback the zoom noise was too much because the mic sits in front of the lens, I had no choice than to return it. You can buy an external mic to eliminate it.
Summary: The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is partly operator trouble. I must have developed some behavior with my TM90, which makes me touch the Auto/Manual button at the top of the HCV700. A real shock the first time it was in manual (unbeknown to me), making me think that it broke down already... Well, the really frustrating part was trying to find how to switch it back to Auto via the touch screen menues. It wasn't there!
Summary: I have been quite satisfied with this Panasonic camera. I bought it so that I could take indoor movies with just the light that is available (no extra lighting), and it has performed well under these circumstances. My only disappointment is small--it's most robust recording will not work with my Apple computer. But it does have an iFrame setting that can be used with a Mac, and I have found it quite satisfactory both in quality and functionality.
Summary: Simple to use and the picture quality is good although I am using the I Picture format which is not the best quality picture that this camcorder is capable of producing. I am using this format with the camcorder instead of the 1080p format because I am going to edit using my Macbook Air I Movie editing program.
Summary: The video quality is great. It's nice to be able to take still photos while recording. The photos aren't great - they're decent - but I like the feature. I recorded plenty of video at the beach and the image quality is excellent. The wind noise is noticeable but it doesn't drowned out all the other sounds. The "quick start" works really well. As soon as the screen opens your ready to record. Closing the screen doesn't stop recording. The battery last about 75 minutes.
Some Concerns, But I Think I Can Recommend It. Read Details Below.

Summary: Brain Dump Follows: Well, I'm keeping it, but I have some concerns. Today is the last day for me to return it and when I was outside today in the cold shooting some footage, for the first time there was some lateral image shake when zooming at the maximum speed. I also noticed for the first time today that when you zoom at the maximum speed, (something which you would rarely do unless you are frequently filming fleeing perpetrators), there is a motor/gear noise faintly...
Summary: I really like this camcorder. It functions as described and makes a good field device for the prosumer video enthusiast, although I would recomend an external microphone. The major downside is that the Hd Writer software does not work with Windows 8 and does only some fundamental video editing. There are better video format converters and editors on the market.
