Summary: I was very happy when I bought the camcorder, and for a few month it worked great. First problem was that one of the CMOS sensors just died. After a few hours, it magically came back to life on its own. I ignored the issue and went on with my life. After that, it just stopped recording. First it happened once, took out the battery, put it back, it came back to life. Now, whatever I do, the Accessing Card LED turns on but I cannot shoot any video.
Summary: I don't have a whole lot of experience with all the features and capabilities of this camera. After taking a few different videos, I hooked the camera up to the TV and the color seemed off. I tried different modes and couldn't figure it out. However, after downloading the videos to my computer, the color seems spot on. I don't know what that is about, but just a heads up to anyone experiencing the same thing.
Summary: The camcorder inexplicably stopped working after only a few times using it. The battery seems to take a charge, but the camera itself will not turn on. Unfortunately, the breakdown occurred after the labor warranty expired and Panasonic's quote to repair it was nearly as much as a new camcorder. I am very disappointed and will not be buying another Panasonic product again.
Summary: This video camera has it all. Very easy to grab shoot close and it turns itself off. Have not downloaded any of the video shot over the last 6 months except for Christmas videos that were very clear and crisp. Definitely recommend.
Summary: I really love this camera. Before buying I looked up several videos on youtube and this camera stood out even when compared to high end camcorders. I bought its and used it for a while but had to return it because of the zoom noise. I used it for a video tutorial, on a tripod in a quiet environment and during playback the zoom noise was too much because the mic sits in front of the lens, I had no choice than to return it. You can buy an external mic to eliminate it.
Summary: Had the Camera for four months, wife used twice. We went to use this month and camera isn't turning on at all. Swapped out battery and did other trouble shopping. Called Panasonic for repair or replacement and was told that unit is out of warranty for labor, but parts will be covered. Hopefully Panasnic will be flexible about fixing camera, since we have only owned for 4 months.
Summary: Overall, the camera produces excellent-quality video. The anti-shake thing works well, although it took a bit of getting used to; once I knew how it would affect the image, it became intuitive. The anti-shake is easy to turn on and off too, with a dedicated button on the camera. The auto white-balance thing worked extremely well; within a second or two of turning on the camera, it figured out how to compensate for LED lights, florescent lights, and daylight.
Summary: The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is partly operator trouble. I must have developed some behavior with my TM90, which makes me touch the Auto/Manual button at the top of the HCV700. A real shock the first time it was in manual (unbeknown to me), making me think that it broke down already... Well, the really frustrating part was trying to find how to switch it back to Auto via the touch screen menues. It wasn't there!
