Summary: I bought this at the same time as the Canon VIXIA HF M50 - only needed to use the Panasonic once to see that it didn't handle low light or color as well as the Canon. I returned the Panasonic, and the Canon has since tripled in price!
Summary: Unit stopped working in 2 months. Shot beautiful video while on vacation for first two days! The zoom is incredible. Then it refused to turn back on, even after recharging the battery or trying with the power cord plugged in. Tried another battery, still nothing.
Summary: Great for the price. Good low light, decent stills, fantastic optical zoom, and decent digital zoom (Only used when needed, however. Everyone I've shown this camera to, they've been impressed by the sharp details and cinematic quality of this camera. The optical stabilization is fantastic too.
Summary: I like to buy Panasonic products, as they offer me good quality at afordable price! Only have to be carefull with temperature changes (example: when you are in a air conditioned area and moves to the heat, the lens gets fogs).
Summary: Overall, the camera produces excellent-quality video. The anti-shake thing works well, although it took a bit of getting used to; once I knew how it would affect the image, it became intuitive. The anti-shake is easy to turn on and off too, with a dedicated button on the camera.
Summary: The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is partly operator trouble. I must have developed some behavior with my TM90, which makes me touch the Auto/Manual button at the top of the HCV700. A real shock the first time it was in manual (unbeknown to me), making me think that it broke down already...
