"Dated but brilliantly powerful and versatile camera"

Reschool, CNET
29 September 2011
  • Pros: Great versatility with the hand strap for both forward and rearward recording. Quick recording and pausing. Also has the ability to add an extra Night mode light (IR) or light for darker surrounds
  • Cons: Zoom only operates slowly when recording but lightning fast when using as viewer or in pause mode. The biggest downside is the lack of accessories avail now. 12 monts ago there was HEAPS! but now.. there is only batteries.

MaxxHeadroom, CNET

  • Pros: Really nice on-screen image, low camera noise when running tape, optical image stabilization works pretty well when not mounted on a tripod; night vision has several levels that take some familiarization with; time stamp if you want it; customizable ze
  • Cons: Low light level auto-focus is poor. You have to select slow shutter speed (highest in this range is 1/30 second) and then manually focus, which is OK if you're mounted on a tripod, but if not, God help you get that image in focus. Would have preferred n

mminitor, Ebay
2 April 2011
  • Summary: The Panasonic DVC30 is one of the best pro cam's made for low light shoots! This is our third DVC30. We contract to concerts, expo's and other events and found this lightweight cam can get the job done. I prefer this over our Sony cams. No complaints with the image quality!

"Great Little 3-Chip DV-Camcorder"

mediabizpro, CNET
4 November 2010
  • Pros: Robust build, solid handle, large flip-out monitor, pro quality controls.
  • Cons: 1. Size. I wish the body were larger. 2. I wish it had a dedicated zoom lever. 3. The built-in microphone placement is awful, and fairly useless.

I( am using it to record from a home movie screen some cherished scenes from 89MM movie film from ww2 and beyond including the hydrogen bomb test from the air at einawetak M.I. I then narate the scenes and transfer them to DVD for my grand kids.I was able to down load the users manual frim Panasonic and make a Manual in large print which gave me a perfect program on the first try.
