Summary: I just read in amazon.com that Kodak is phasing out its video camcorder dept. How come a camera that was less that half this price NEW and will have no support is now over $300? Mine cost me around $130 NEW, was not a year old when it went dead. I don't care about buying a battery if it is a dead battery case because I have bought batteries in the past and they either don't charge or arrive defective. So...
Pros: Small, light and easy to use. Indoor video looks ok and bright light quality looks great on the computer. Still quality is poor or well below average compared to a regular point and shoot camera
Cons: Video looks poor on the HDTV. Lots of motion blur and noise especially in shaded areas or indoor lighting. Still image quality is poor or well below average compared to a regular point and shoot camera.
Excerpt: Can't adjust the lighting, no flash. I can't take very good pictures unless it is in a semi light room. It doesn't have a flash, so you can't use it automatically to take a picture anytime. Battery life is good and recharges when plugged into a device. You can use it underwater which I have done and the pics came out good. I have had this for a year now and still can't figure out how to take quality pictures without a flash so i have not used it. I rely on my phone.
Summary: Picture quality is satisfactory but not outstanding when shooting outside. The picture quality when shooting inside is very grainy. My Casio Exilim produces video clips that are comparable to the Zi8 and sharper still photos. Bottom line, save your money and buy a high quality HD camcorder.
