The Kodak Zi8 is a ultra-compact camcorder that features a 1/2.5–type 5-megapixel CMOS sensor and 6.3mm, f/2.8, fixed focus lens with recording capabilities that supports up to 1080p (1920 × 1080, 30fps) video recordings. The camcorder also features 4X digital zoom, allows users to view their recordings on its 2.5-inch LCD display, lets them store recordings on a 128 MB internal memory with expandability via SD/SDHC card expansion slot, and records in H.264 (MOV) and AAC LC format. The Kodak Zi8 also supports up to 5.3-megapixel (16:9 widescreen) JPEG still image capture. The Zi8 also features monaural built-in microphone, I/O interface such as USB 2.0 (high speed), AV out, HDMI, DC in and external microphone jack (support stereo); comes with a 1/4 inch standard tripod mount and is powered by a KODAK Li-Ion Rechargeable Digital Camera Battery KLIC-7004. The Zi8 measures 62.0 × 113.2 × 21.5 mm and weighs 110 g without batteries. The camcorder comes with a one year warranty, adapter and cable for battery charging, HDMI and AV cables, wrist strap, user guide and Arcsoft Media Impression Software for Kodak (PC only).

The Kodak Zi8 is a camcorder with the ability to capture HD quality 1080p video with 16:9 aspect ratio and records up to 10 hours of HD video with the expandable SD/SDHC card slot that can hold up to 32 GB. The unit also features external microphone jack that lets users record in stereo and captures 5 MP 16:9 widescreen HD still pictures. The camcorder features a 5 in. (6.4 cm) color LCD screen that allows users to keep track of their recordings, and allow users to connect the unit to an external display output like a HDTV via its HDMI ports and allow them to watch their recordings in high definition on the big screen. The device also allows users to share their recordings on Facebook™ and YouTube™ social networking sites with via built-in software that facilitates editing and uploading. It is compatible with PC and MAC operating systems. The Kodak Zi8 is part of the company’s budget line-up. The Zi8 also features face tracking, image stabilization, and shares many of the same features as its predecessors and comes in an upright form factor that is portable in design, stripped down menu feature list. The Kodak Zi8 is available in multiple colors (blue, red, and black) starting September 2009, retailing for $179.
