For those looking at the Everio GZ-MS100, you'll have to ask yourself if the price is worth it for the higher quality video. After enjoying the Flip's interface, it's frustrating to wrestle with the MS100's menus and the inelegant journey from camcorder to YouTube. If you're looking for a simple, inexpensive option to give you better video and more manual controls, it might be worth trying out the Canon and Panasonic alternatives before settling on this model from JVC. Jazzed Up JVC Camcorder Hits a Few Sour Notes "It's a YouTube camera ... It's a camcorder made for uploading YouTube clips ... We think this cam will be great for sending videos to sites like YouTube." Honestly, if I hear that phrase (or anything like it) one more time I'm going to punch the YouTube guys in the back of the head . Why? Because more than representing a simple distribution model, these days the moniker has come to represent just plain crappy video quality.... Read more

So this boils down to a decent, lightweight standard-def 35x zoom camcorder with software that makes uploading to YouTube relatively simple. There are many other less expensive gadgets that let you post to YouTube but quality is pretty weak. At least with the JVC Everio S GZ-MS100 you’re getting a camcorder rather than a glorified disposable camera. Since this baby is brand new (as of June 2008) the price hasn’t dipped below $349 USD. If you want a pretty cool gadget... Read more

The JVC Everio GZ-MS100 () is a decent entry-level camcorder, but the two flashiest and most compelling features - the YouTube compatibility and the "Laser Touch" operation - are the very elements that weaken it. The YouTube upload process is not as simple, elegant, or effective as the Pure Digltal Flip Ultra () or other Flips. It requires installing the software ahead of time (barring on-the-go uploading) and offers PC-only support. The Laser Touch operation, JVC's new... Read more

I am new at making video files, so the first time using it was very awkward. But in a few minutes I started looking like an expert. I am using a video file converter. The video files are mpeg's from the camera! I would of liked better software for file loading. The grip-strap is a big selling point, since most of these flash cameras dont have a grip-strap! It is very lightweight for it's size, so carrying it around all day shouldn't be a problem (for tourists). There... Read more

I bought this camcorder at an IT-Show in Singapore. I wanted something that's cheap and not so complicated. I took this camcorder as a start and I used it with ease. I am not expecting so much from this camcorder, but it does give me the result that I need (at the moment). I would recommend the product if you are just looking for a camcorder that you need for just capturing the moment without the need of high definition. Read more

JVC Everio S GZ-MS100 Camcorder 5 Pros... I can begain this review by saying WOW. I've recived this camera as a gift in the beginning of October of 08 and it has not let me down. I took this camera thru hell. It been dropped 2 time with in half an hour. Once from 3 feet high and another from the top of my Chevy aveo while driving down the street and its still working. I highly recommend you getting a camera that saves your video on a SD card because there are no moving... Read more
