Excerpt: "Now JVC have been around quite a while in the electronics market and have designed and manufactured some of the best out there. JVC are amongst the big players with the likes of Sony, Samsung and Panasonic. I had wanted a camcorder for a while and was desperate for one for the holiday that was coming up at the time. I really wanted to take lots of videos of Malta to show my mum when I got back how great it is out there. So there I was, scouring the ...
Pros: simple to use, video quality is brilliant, price, features and easy to play back .
Summary: I bought one of these at Christmas complete with the docking station, so far i cannot find fault with it. I used to use the mini-dv panasonic camcorder, which stopped working after 13 months !!! And in all fairness what a real pain to transfer video footage to video, this little gem works like a treat and the ease of transfering to my laptop is fantastic.
Summary: I have just purchased this camcorder to take on an extended holiday in NZ and Australia and it really was a delight to use and I found it extremely compact and because of this I was able to take it everywhere. I was extremely disappointed to find that it is NOT particularly PC friendly and I would like some info please on a suitable programme that I can download so I can do some PC editing,(nerd friendly if possible).
Summary: We have this camera for over 6 months now, and I'm glad I didn't read reviews up here before I bought it. The guy who is talking about .mod file problem is and xxxxx as stated by the other reviewer. .mod is a standard mpeg2 file with just different name, and it can be recognized on any recent video software. But if you would have some old software just change the extension name manually from .mod to .mpg. We use this camera every day.
Summary: the guy who has given the camera 1 star is a real idiot i would say. because ant HDD camera the file format is MOD i think. because i have a Panasonic and it also has MOD and I also faced various difficulties when trying to edit it.... but it is not something wrong with JVC only... its the problem of Panasonic as well. I thank for the guy who has written alot about this JVC camera and given 4stars.
Summary: if you want a camera to film your family on holiday in the carribean and then watch it back on the tv then i suggest you buy this. but if like me you want to flim and edit on the computer DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA! it is all fine untill you realise that it has recorded files in the .MOD format which is not friendly to editing systems. there are various long winded ways to convert the files but these WILL NOT WORK on windows movie make. just a warning.
Summary: Ive had the camera for about 3 days now and i have been playing with it since. my first impression is physically its not very striking when you see it. it doesn't have the wow factor. its very plain and simple not very stylish but very compact and light weight. now lets talk about the video and picture quality and performance, ill give it a thumbs up for having 60gb capacity, the video quality its just a standard definition but good enough to watch on a 42 inch TV...
