Summary: This is a wonderful little cam for the home user. But if you want to do something more than just do quick home quality vids then spend some more money and get something better. If you want to do extended shots on the road get an extra battery.
Pros: hard drive makes this very easy to use. have used dvd and tape camcorders in the past and this one is so much easier and faster to use. 30 Meg is plenty even at high quality if you have a laptop handy. Approx 7 hours on high quality.
Cons: no image stabilization, zoom is way too fast and jerky to do any panning that looks decent, no viewfinder just the lcd screen. still shots are very poor, remote only works from the front of the cam, cam lighting is minimal, no audio input jack and only one audio option,
Summary: **Pure Digital format: Im kinda making up a term here. What I like about HDD camcorders is that I can transfer teh movie file (*.mod) to teh computer as pure data. I dont have to record for 30 minutes...and then inport for 30 minutes.
Pros: Pure Digital format** A/V in and out Sqmall DV and usb. Stills with SD cards Dock built in lens cap 720x480 video Manual shutter speed
Cons: no usb streaming mpeg2** Small It hurts to hold it - the strap is for right handed people and i broke my wrist 2 years ago and because its so small its feels uncomfortable to hold it sometimes. But i can see how even if i didn't have a preexisting condition that someone would see this uncomfortab...
Summary: We purchased this camcorder about 8 weeks after the birth of our son, hoping to catch the many wonderful memories that would occur in these precious first years. Not even 2 months after owning the camcorder, we turned it on one day only to get "communicating error" between the camcorder and battery.
Summary: Now, I know this software that this camera comes with is just bundled and isn't really suppose to blow people away. That's why they have things like Final Cut Pro, Premeire and Pinnacle out just to name a few.
Pros: Very awesome quality in ultra fine mode. I love the fact that you can record in 16:9 widescreen. Video looks great on my 40" wide screen HD LCDTV. Very small and compact, which makes for easy travel. Plenty of features and adjustable settings. 32x optical zoom is really nice, get's very distorted...
Cons: So here goes, it records in mpeg2 format which is pretty standard, however, most media players on a computer will not play mpeg2. You will have to download some codec in order for this to play back. Also the software that is included will not let you convert the mpeg2 file into a more usable form...
Pros: The MG-155 is simple to use. Very easy to switch from video to still footage. The instant start feature is very handy for kids' ball games etc. one touch backup and DVD burn is great.
Cons: No illumination for less than perfect lighting. Still picture quality leaves something to be desired. Comes with the lowest record time rated battery (pricey upgrade) Battery/camera must be in the dock to recharge (battery charger is an additional purchase)Supplied software is sub par.
Summary: After looking around quite a bit, I settled on the GZMG155 camcorder and I'm very happy with it. The picture quality is great and it's easy to transfer recordings to my laptop to burn DVDs or edit. I find the automatic mode find for shooting in most conditions.
Summary: We purchased this model due to its hard drive recording space, 7 - 37 hours recording time which is just awesome. No need to worry about a new cartridge, or dvd disk to record to. Its small, and compact; so if your hand is large you may find it harder to work since its compact.
Summary: I purchased this camcorder to record the dog sport of flyball. I took it to a tournament (indoors) and recorded our dogs passing to see if we could improve our skills. The lighting that this camcorder picked up was very warm (red tones) and the overall quality was not sharp as I had hoped.
