Summary: I bought this little jewel at a PX in Germany and paid only 300 us new, the salesman apparently had no idea of how exp it was, anyway it was sitting in the reduced area because it had been opened and was missing both the micro drive and battery. I have been shooting all over the planet and I love its small but powerful package. I just recently bought a hdsd 16 gig compact flash drive and it worked, now I get about 7 hours of ultra high video!
Summary: I work for a TV station, but didn't have a camera of my own. I picked this up because I was doing some undercover work and wanted a camera I could hide easier. It had a manual focus which I really wanted but it is not turn the focus ring and directly connected to the glass type. I initially hated the file type it records to... some stupid MOD extension. The only way I could get it into avid to edit video was put it through another program to make to quicktime or avi.
Summary: I make a living producing videos with Mac's. I own this camera and I love it but there is one truth: the camera is not supported by JVC for Mac's... but that does not matter since you can still have a great experience. It is actually simpler to use with a Mac than with a PC! No need to install drivers and softwares. To summarize it: 1- I did not install anything... there is no Mac software. You do not need it. Plug it in.
Summary: This small thing is so unique that your satisfaction level will only depend on what you need from a camcorder. Firstly, everyone says this bug is not "that good" with low light. I can not agree with this, there are a few settings in the menu, and you can get really good results under low light. If you leave it at "auto" mode though, they're right. It sometimes sucks! It also has issues with the other meaning of "light"... Weight is so low.
Summary: A small camera which takes video in MPEG-2 (much better quality than my previous Sanyo Xacti C5, which records in MPEG-4 and more than comparable with my old Samsung DV camcorder). I record video to the microdrive and stills separately to the SD card. The stills picture quality is very good, although it will never be as good as a dedicated digital camera. Small and compact, easy to use, although it takes a while to get used to the size and viewfinder being at the back.
