Good Camera!

Derek Briggs, Amazon
24 February 2013
  • Summary: Theres alot of good and alittle bad. Bad! The .tod format is the worst thing. It takes forever to convert. Loses quality on conversion. The handling is very shaky. The depth of field on it doesnt work that well but still does the trick for certain things. Good! 3ccd and HD show very much in this small camera. The swivel screen is awesome. Alot of menu options for a semi pro camera.

Fine Camera But Now Obsolete

lmenningen, Ebay
5 August 2011
  • Summary: The camera itself is fine but it has become obsolete. This is my fourth one and they all are used regularly. A so-called "better" camera has its uses, especially where one must make frequent setting changes, but we use these set the same all the time. They edit perfectly in Adobe's Premiere Pro CS programs. Now days you'd get a camera with removable memory and it will likely use a different codec, but this model functions well and is compatible with the Canon 7D.

JVC Everio GS-HD7

dwwade, Ebay
5 April 2011
  • Summary: This a good camera, BUT one must be willing to deal with its limitations. It's native file is .TOD, not supported by most NLE software. So, it has to be converted. MPeg Streamclip is the best app for this process, and is free! The image stabilization system is by far the worst ever made, so don't turn it on. You can operate this camera is full auto mode, semi-manual in either shutter or aperture priority modes, and full manual.

better than the reviews

Austin, B&H Photo
19 November 2008
  • Summary: This is a solid performer despite bad reviews. A few simple tweaks and it shoots great footage. I use a multicam setup at our church. I love the firewire and mic outputs. The high def image is amazing. The only drawback is the lack of a genlock, but for the price its a winner.
  • Pros: Comfortable to Operate, Durable, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Simple Controls, Versatile

So Far so Good! Big bang for the buck!

Tucka, B&H Photo

  • Summary: This is a very versitile camera for the price. This camera was a bit pricy when it was released but not anymore. To get the manual features it has and the picture quality, you would haveto spend 2,3,or 4 times as much. I am enjoying the beachteck dual XLR adapter that was a recomended accessory by B&H.
