Summary: I just spoke with JVC customer support and they acknowledged that the OIS in the GZHD7 is 'weak'. He said the issue is mechanical and that no fix or patch will be released for the current model.
Optical Image Stabilization is DEFECTIVE and not working!!
K. Nichols, Amazon
20 May 2007
Summary: The Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) feature on the GZ-HD7 is not working on my camera and from what I've read on the internet its not working for alot of other GZ-HD7 owners either. I've been in contact with JVC for a week now about the OIS issue.
Note for Macintosh users using professional non-linear editing systems such as Final Cut Pro
Tim Jacoby, Amazon
28 April 2007
Summary: If you are using Final Cut Pro or other professional non-linear editing programs on the Mac, you cannot use the camera's native .TOD format, which is basically an MPEG inside the .TOD container. Forget about following JVC's instructions: they are too time-consuming and don't allow batch processing.
Summary: I was looking for a nice "prosumer" camera to do some freelancing shooting on the side. The specs and price seemed about right for the camera but after excitedly taking it home and playing around with it, I discover it has NO headphone jack.
Should you consider the competition from Sony & Canon?
Ross Mendel "Ross", Amazon
20 April 2007

Excerpt: I have rewritten this review (new at all this) and I hope it is more helpful. I know like a lot of other people out there, I waited patiently for this product and can safely say that the GZ-HD7 delivers on some, but not all, of its promises.
