Excellent Camcorder

George S. Ledyard "George L", Amazon
8 September 2009
  • Summary: I am very happy woth this product. The picture quality is excellent, the controls are more intuitive than my last camera... making changes in the settings is far easier. This was the least expensive 3 CCD camera I could find but it was about half the price of the the mini dv 3 CCD camera I bought a few years ago. It's rather amazing.

A++ Color, Awful Video Format

phiproductions, Ebay
3 August 2009
  • Summary: JVC has a terrible proprietary .TOD video file format. Once you get over that obstacle though, this particular Everio camera has the X.V. Color booster which is the only true reason to buy this camera over any other in its class. The color is excellent and does fairly well in low-light conditions in comparison to others of its type.

Very Good for the Price

Luciano, B&H Photo
24 March 2009
  • Summary: I love the camcorder works great and has a good price but there are somethings you should know before buying this product. First, the batterie does not last more than one hour because the LCD screen has to be opened in order to record. Second, sometimes the hard-drive will get really hot and the camcorder will turn itself off. Third and most important, if you have a mac this product can be really hard to work with.
  • Pros: Great Picture Quality, Versatile
  • Cons: Complicated To Operate, Poor Battery Life

Great camcorder but software just doesn't cut it

Peter Vekinis, Amazon
12 January 2009
  • Summary: This camera is a great HD camera and at a great price (that's what happens when six months pass since a product introduction in the consumer market). However, the lack of the ability to edit HD files using firewire is a big problem. To use firewire you need to record in less resolution 1440 (instead of 1920x1080) which doesn't permit great high resolution files to be downloaded automatically with firewire. My Macbook Pro has firewire and I am used to iMovie for editing.

First time buyer from B&H

RB, B&H Photo
30 December 2008
  • Summary: [...]I'm still trying to figure out the software that came with the vidcam. Which features are/not enabled and which upgrade I'll need for full functionality and I can't find the CD key number. The camera, on automatic mode, tends to lose it's white balance in lower light situations. The scene just fades to a red tint. I haven't tried to figure it out yet but feel confident that there is an acceptable solution[...

Best Value for HD

Kev, B&H Photo
17 November 2008
  • Summary: I run multimedia for a church and this is a great entry level camera. The only bad thing was I couldn't import any files to Premier Pro or Windows Movie maker. They have to be uploaded to a cyberlink program and rendered, wasting precious time. Other than that I would recommend this to anyone trying to do professional looking projects at nominal cost. It's got the best features of any camera in this range.
  • Pros: Comfortable to Operate, Durable, Great Picture Quality, Simple Controls, Versatile
