Summary: this review comes seven years later, so it brings a lot of perspective. one of those perspectives is this is the best model prosumer camcorder at its price point ever made, before or since. if you are fortunate to find one, snap it up. it has proved timeless in value. these are the features that make it stand out. most impressive is the 3 chip imaging system, yes they are small but adequate to generate the HDV class video.
Awesome product !!!Great value for your money !!!!

Summary: What else can I say..its excellent in everything, even though it has a short running battery but it depends on how you handle it. I bought a few spare batteries and are on stand-by everytime. I do fully recommend my friend to purchase one like this.
Summary: This was a very good investment. The price was very good and the quality of the video is excellent. The HD video is supurb. I have had it for a few years now and finally getting around to write the review. My only complaint is the video extension I wish were more of a standard format. I believe it writes to a .TOD which needs to be converted.
Summary: The color saturation with this camera is stunning. I have another JVC GZ HD30U and it is night and day. Hardly any white balance necessary. It also has the ability to use the micro SD cards. Perfect. Just take it out, copy the files to the computer, then format the card through the camera. Do not format or cut the files from the card. Use the camera to format the card.
Summary: I own this camera for 12 months now. I agree to the positive reviews about the video quality and light handling. However when it comes to PC connectivity this camera simply - don't! The only way to get your videos on your PC is through the supported software. You can't stream live video and you can't use common software such as Movie Maker or Windows Media Encoder to capture live video or to immediately edit the recorded video (on the HD).
Summary: I am very happy woth this product. The picture quality is excellent, the controls are more intuitive than my last camera... making changes in the settings is far easier. This was the least expensive 3 CCD camera I could find but it was about half the price of the the mini dv 3 CCD camera I bought a few years ago. It's rather amazing.
Summary: JVC has a terrible proprietary .TOD video file format. Once you get over that obstacle though, this particular Everio camera has the X.V. Color booster which is the only true reason to buy this camera over any other in its class. The color is excellent and does fairly well in low-light conditions in comparison to others of its type.
