Summary: Had a Canon Vixia hr40, for two weeks, swapped it for this JVC thing. Going to undo that, and get the Canon again. In some ways, the JVC has a better UI, but it's so cheesy, with goofy icons, silly sounds, and background graphics swooping around. The JVC's image stabilization, image resolution, and lo-lux capability seem inferior to the Canon. The JVC has a very simple live USB connection, and supports immediate playback on PC over the cable.
Summary: 16G built-in memory is great, no reason to really buy more, 40x optical is great for 99% of normal shooting, most others are only 25x, AVCHD file format and normal file name numbering (no hexadecimal numbers) makes for a very compressed and high quality file format. Remote controls via app and browser and even internet are great, but who would really use it for a full surveillance camera, leaves the screen on full the entire time.
Summary: This cam is good for the youtube/vimeo/or other Internet streaming sites. I've checked with the play back on PC at highest UXP setting and the frame rate was <30 fps. There is other JVC's 60p model but the price is almost double. So for those who are looking for basic entry level camcorder, this would be a good choice. Wi-Fi works perfect, Unless you're real PRO,30 fps, will give you a good result on Internet streaming. Handling is OK.
Summary: I bought this camera for my wife and she really enjoy this camera and all the features that camera she really enjoy the wi-fi features that is possible to use on off network and use as baby monitor works vey well very clear image.
