Excerpt: You have a real hd camcorder with manual control without all dslr accessory. I use it twice since i received it. Poor sound control but with external device it's ok, i use audio mixer Behringer XENYX Q502USB and a audio technica shotgun and also a small monitor apurture vs-1 and i'm very confortable. The camcorder make a very good impression with client. The variable zoom is difficult to use and the button feel plastic.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality
Excerpt: I shoot pro sports for major networks. I got this to shoot high school sports for my son's school. The video quality is pretty good. The cameras functionality is somewhat familiar to high end cameras. The one drawback is the viewfinder looks soft. Even with focus assist on it is difficult to feel confident about the sharpness of your focus. I find using the lcd on the side of the camera works better but that's only when using a tripod.
Excerpt: I have used this camera weekly at my church for the past month and am impressed with its image quality at this price point. It is excellent in low light and the auto functions react extremely quickly. I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking to produce professional looking HD videos.
Excerpt: I shoot events like car shows and I have done some war reenactments. I use a steady cam suit with the GY-HM70U and it all works perfect together. So most of my shoots are high action were I need to be moving fast and lots of angles. The camera works very well under these conditions and gets great video with high super clear footage. Stabilization is great even when I zoom in when I have to zoom in. The GY-HM70U is a solid well built camera.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom
Excerpt: We just recently added this cam to our arsenal of equipment as we had the chance to use it for one of our wedding video and in daylight the colors were way better than our SONY HXR-MC2000's, and handles better in low light, but of course the HM70 is newer and has a BSI sensor. My second camera operator uses his Panasonic AG-AC8, and even he likes the lens autofocus action better on the HM70. We just recently purchased this with the extra JVC zoom rocker.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Zoom range/performance
Summary: First of all it is nicely styled and very light weight, like a feather compared to a standard broadcast camera. Weight makes it feel a bit less professional, but it sure is easy to carry, so I like it. Very nice video, looks superb even on an 80" set. The controls are well place and easy to use, would like to see a professional microphone connection instead of the 3mm job but it all works.
Summary: After testing this camera on several shoots as part of a class assignment, I was pleased with the quality of image it produced. The battery life is acceptable, and the camera has room for two batteries, making it even more reliable. The menu and interface is nearly identical to the JVC Everio line.
