Excerpt: I have been in video production for ten years and tend to stick with lower level video equipment due to budget and the types of projects I do. I bought this camera for the two reasons: 1. SD/HD 2. XLR inputs. The three major issues with this device are: 1. Terrible low light and medium light settings. If you have to shoot in a lot of ambient light than this camera will let you down. It looks okay in a well lite environment but still does not have a very clean picture.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Poor Image Quality, Poor In Low Light, Poor Still Image
Summary: I am new to a camcorder with all these features, but once you figure out how everything works, it shoots great video! auto mode is very good, but tweaking in manual mode is very beneficial especially in low light. I use it to make videos for youtube and it is very easy to do. Just shoot, remove the sd card, copy the video to your desktop and drag to youtubes upload page.
Excerpt: We have three of these cameras, and use them primarily for shooting interviews and sports-realated b-roll. They have great audio inputs and monitoring, and provide ample ProcAmp settings. The screen is a little small for manual focusing, so I would recommend getting an external monitor to mount on the camera's cold shoe.
Pros: Audio Inputs, Easy To Edit Xdcam-ex, Easy to Use, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound
Cons: Limited Zoom, No Sdi Output, Poor In Low Light, Small screen
Summary: From it's small profile to it's jam packed technology, this camera delivers well in many situations. I'm giving it a 5 star simply because it provides excellent versatility and performance for the price/package combination. Pros: Compact size and weight is a plus as I have hiked this camera up the Swiss Alps and even up beach and mountain cliffs. The technology packed into the camera gives the cameraman excellent control.
Excerpt: If you want to shoot movies... move on. This is a newsgathering and special events camera. It's made for professionals who need to get the video on the air asap. Menu system is identical to the bigger brothers from JVC. Also shoots SD which is perfect for most PEG users. PC or Mac workflow is awesome.
Pros: Easy to Use, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound
Excerpt: I can't say enough about this little workhorse. I bought it just over two years ago as i began a documentary project (I sold my Canon XLHHD to a film student). Right off the bat the weight, the feel, the features made shooting run and gun a dream. I have been shooting 1080 24 and it looks like i am shooting on film. Some clips of what i shot wound up on the local broadcast news and it was beautiful. The camera is light. Which means shooting hand held is a dream.
Pros: Amazing Image Quality, Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Large Clear LCD, Lightweight, Zoom range/performance
