Summary: JVC CyberCam GR DVF-31 pooped out after very little use. I would never again by JVC. it was never abused, never experienced weather, water, nothing, it just went tits up one day... Junk! I think it's the dreaded 'you got screwed bad' '03' error.. which means you are screwed..
Summary: If purchased new, this is a very nice camcorder and fairly easy to use. HOWEVER, as they get some use and age on them, the fast-forward/rewind/play tape mechanism tends to fail. Repairs are cost prohibitive because repairs will cost nearly as much as a new camera.
Summary: I had an older version of this same camera, after accidentally dropping it, it no longer would download to my system. I bought another style camera but was not satisfied. Sold that one and went back to this JVC style which I just love.....
Great camera, but be careful of battery and firewire brands!

Summary: This camera works great, but it takes some time to figure out the different menus. The Firewire is picky. With JVC video cameras you need a Texas Instruments chipset on your Firewire capture card (or on your motherboard if Firewire is integrated into your motherboard). VIA firewire will not work.
