Summary: Wanted to buy a new Cam at the first of the year but waited on the newer models to arrive. I was looking at Canon's Z300, Sony's HC32, and JVC's 295. I think each has it strong points but in the end it was JVC's zoom, extra battery, great night vison, and crystal clear quality that lead me here. I love this thing. No problems xfering to pc using firewire. Battery life is above average at 1:39... Usable also as a Web Cam..(great quality) All this for $378...
Summary: I've had this camcorder now for 6 months. Here are some of the things I have found. First you know to purchase a firewire. The charger, I found a nice charger that you put the battery in the unit and plug the whole thing into the electrical socket. That is nice. I don't know if other camcorders have the same type lense cover, but this one stinks. It falls off alot. Whoever designed it should be immediately drug tested. Still shots are so-so.
Summary: It has many attractive features for the price ... so I just ordered this and totally disappointed with audio noise. The motor makes too much noise and the built-in mic picksup that noise. The "audio" is important component of any recording, I just can't stand a stupid "humming" noise, so this is getting returned. JVC, what were you thinking ????
Close to professional quality for a consumer camera

Summary: This camera has a lot of great attributes and produces great sound and audio quality, like the other reviewers have mentioned. However, I think it should be noted that the lens cap comes off very easily (i.e. it never stays on). It's not such a big problem that I would change my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars--it's just an inconvenience. Make sure you have a good case, or at least a secure method of storing the camera, that protects the lens.
Summary: Nice camcorder for price. The audio sounds fine to me. Zoom is excellent. I connected the camera using firewire to my DVD recorder and it works great, very simple. I am able to easily make copies to DVD of what we created. The onscreen guide is farily easy to navigate through to find what you are looking for. If you want to be able to film and then transfer to DVD, I highly recommend this camera along with buying a DVD recorder, much easier than using a PC.
Summary: we bought this product and i thought because it was from JVC it would be good well i was wrong when we recored it looks fine but when we play it back it's so dark and i know it's that camcorder because are t.v.
Summary: The DV is in a weird place, on the bottom, which makes inserting a new tape while the camcorder is on a tripod impossible. Otherwise, this camera is great. Compact, easy to use, etc. The light on it is convienent; though it would be nice to have the option to turn it on remotely. Zoom is smooth, and it works great as a webcam.
