Great for the price.

  • Summary: The DV is in a weird place, on the bottom, which makes inserting a new tape while the camcorder is on a tripod impossible. Otherwise, this camera is great. Compact, easy to use, etc. The light on it is convienent; though it would be nice to have the option to turn it on remotely. Zoom is smooth, and it works great as a webcam.

Happy to have waited for this one!!!!

Fran Fowler, Amazon

  • Summary: Wanted to buy a new Cam at the first of the year but waited on the newer models to arrive. I was looking at Canon's Z300, Sony's HC32, and JVC's 295. I think each has it strong points but in the end it was JVC's zoom, extra battery, great night vison, and crystal clear quality that lead me here. I love this thing. No problems xfering to pc using firewire. Battery life is above average at 1:39... Usable also as a Web Cam..(great quality) All this for $378...

Nice Camcorder

M. Miller, Amazon

  • Summary: I've had this camcorder now for 6 months. Here are some of the things I have found. First you know to purchase a firewire. The charger, I found a nice charger that you put the battery in the unit and plug the whole thing into the electrical socket. That is nice. I don't know if other camcorders have the same type lense cover, but this one stinks. It falls off alot. Whoever designed it should be immediately drug tested. Still shots are so-so.

too much motor noise!

T. Alaguchokkalingam "day dreamer", Amazon
19 October 2007
  • Summary: It has many attractive features for the price ... so I just ordered this and totally disappointed with audio noise. The motor makes too much noise and the built-in mic picksup that noise. The "audio" is important component of any recording, I just can't stand a stupid "humming" noise, so this is getting returned. JVC, what were you thinking ????

Good Bang for the Buck

J. Morris, Amazon
23 August 2007
  • Summary: Bought this for my husbands birthday, he loves it. Lots of features and good quality pics. Only one complaint, still photo button is right next to record button. We keep pressing the still instead of record! Fits in the palm of hand, great little camera. All in all a good value. Trying to find an external battery charger.

Close to professional quality for a consumer camera

M. Lee, Amazon
1 July 2007
  • Summary: This camera has a lot of great attributes and produces great sound and audio quality, like the other reviewers have mentioned. However, I think it should be noted that the lens cap comes off very easily (i.e. it never stays on). It's not such a big problem that I would change my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars--it's just an inconvenience. Make sure you have a good case, or at least a secure method of storing the camera, that protects the lens.
