The jury is still out on the JVC Everio GZ-MG77. With so many pros and cons of the GZ-MG77 it is hard to say if this model is worth the money. The fact of the matter is that for some people this may be the way to go, but for others it could fall a bit short.

The jury is still out on the JVC Everio GZ-MG77. With so many pros and cons of the GZ-MG77 it is hard to say if this model is worth the money. The fact of the matter is that for some people this may be the way to go, but for others it could fall a bit short.

Let’s start out with the benefits first. The number one benefit of the GZ-MG77 is that the user can shoot up to 37 hours without ever having to switch tapes or DVD’s. This is a lot of footage as compared to some of the competition in this sector of the industry. The GZ-MG77 stores all of its video on a 30GB hard disk, and this has both its benefits and drawbacks. By using this hard disk set up set up the GZ-MG77 is extremely compact, which makes it easy for toting. But to go along with this benefit, the video quality is not nearly as good as other DVD or MiniDV camcorders.

The GZ-MG77 is slated as the top of the line JVC Everio hard drive model. This is evident by the way that this unit is equipped with both the largest hard drive and CCD. But while the GZ-MG77 has these two top of the line features, it is without some amenities that the lower end models are equipped with. This includes a 32x zoom and a video light. It is hard to understand why JVC would include these features on lower end camcorders but skimp when it comes to the high end GZ-MG77.

With a compact size and lots of storage it is no wonder that people are drawn to the JVC Everio GZ-MG77. But with that being said, poor video quality and lack of several features keep this model placed well behind the competition.
