With more and more MiniDV camcorders being turned down in favor of DVD models, it is important for every manufacturer to offer something unique to the consumer. Although the JVC Everio GZ-MG50 is not the best in class, it does have plenty of benefits to offer the user. With more and more MiniDV camcorders being turned down in favor of DVD models, it is important for every manufacturer to offer something unique to the consumer. Although the JVC Everio GZ-MG50 is not the best in class, it does have plenty of benefits to offer the user. Of course, there are some downfalls as well, but when it comes down to it this is a viable option if you are in the market.

One reason that a lot of people buy the Everio GZ-MG50 is because of its small, compact design. In today’s day and age everybody wants to buy the smallest option with the most amounts of features. This is pretty much what the Everio GZ-MG50 is all about. Although it may not have as many features as all of the competition, it is among the most compact as far as design is concerned.

Another huge benefit of the Everio GZ-MG50 is the sheer amount of video that can be stored. This is a huge plus if you are tired of having to stop and reload while you are in the middle of something important. With a 20GB hard disk you can record up to 4 ½ hours of video with the Everio GZ-MG50. This feature alone goes a long way in helping to move this model to the top of the class in some regards.

The major downfall of the Everio GZ-MG50 is the below average video quality. Although better in bright light than dim light, this model does not perform at the highest possible level in either situation. With this in mind, anybody who is searching for good video quality should continue to look.

The JVC Everio GZ-MG50 is average in most aspects, but with a compact design and the ability to store a lot of footage it is worthy of consideration.
