Pros: After much research it became clear that this camera is the best in its price range. It is even better than the "newer" 330. This camera takes better low light videos than the 330, has better color, and simply works better. The only thing the 330 has over this one is its laser touch feature. I wo...
Pros: Bought this after *MUCH* research, and it has most of the features I wanted. Used it on a trip to the Florida Keys with my daughter and in daylight, the video was EXCELLENT! Close up shots were bright and clear, far away was better than expected. Recently used it in Panama and it was easy enough ...
Cons: Heavy movie manipulation can be cumbersome. Rename to .MOD to .MPG and you have workable files :) Windy, outdoor settings can cause noise in the mic, which is very sensitive. Photos aren't the best, but that's what a Digital Camera is for ;)
Summary: I had realistic and informed expectations of this camera before purchase based on the reviews at camcorderinfo.com
Pros: I was looking for a good quality camcorder that wouldn't give me a fight using Ubuntu Linux or break the bank and the JVC GZ-MG255 was it. Video quality looks nice, does better than I expected in low light. Can record video directly to the SD card. Can view the HDD and SD as hard drive mounts and...
Cons: The lack of a dedicated microphone-only input which I knew before purchase.
Good for family recordings but inspect it upon delivery!

Summary: My order arrived with a damaged internal CCD unit causing a bright green spot to show up on any video or viewing through the camera. Newegg quickly assigned a RMA and gave me a full return. I plan to purchase another one when in stock again.
Pros: -small, compact, lightweight -very easy to transfer videos to PC -easy menu to navigate through -good battery life
Cons: -no viewfinder other than LCD screen -Must have a steady hand or a tripod; sensitive to any movement -Poor low-light recording
Pros: This review is not for this camera. I bought from New Egg a JVC GZ-MG77 Digital Camcorder 10X Optical Zoom 300X Digital Zoom 1/3.9" 2.2M CCD 16:9 Widescreen LCD fr $659.99, which I don't see offered here any longer. But I want to make a comment about JVC HARD DRIVE cameras.
Cons: I thought a hard drive camera would be more stable than inserted media. I was wrong. Tried sight seeing from my battery operated wheel chair. If the camera is on, in my hand and I hit an uneven joint on a sidewalk or street, I loose what I have been filming. It is useless to me outdoors, which is...
Summary: Dont think twice. This is a sweet camera. Newegg ROCKS as usual. Fastest shipping anywhere.
Pros: Small. Very nice LCD screen. Great picture, great zoom, easy to use, built in lens cover. NO MINI DV OR OTHER MEDIA TO PURCHASE OR CHANGE!!! For recording our live gigs, we plug it in and let it record 5 hours straight. Awesome. Well done JVC. This is a great value for money camera. I'll by a ful...
Cons: Doesnt come with a case. Thats the only thing I can think of.
Summary: JVC GZ-MG255 Is A Winner Larger F1.2 Super Bright Lens Larger 2MP Larger 1/4 inch CCD. I have just receive my JVC Everio GZ-MG255 Camcorder on Oct.25th that was shipped to me over night next day delivery.I have already made a test Video of my home town and it came out very good.Am very pleased with...
Summary: This is a great camera - back up is easy. Negotiating the menus can be a challenge, not the best interface, but learnable. I agree with the other reviews that say buy the extra battery; it is well worth it.
Summary: This is an expensive camcorder. But, it has a nice image sensor. The problem with this is the .mod format. Where did that come from? It takes decent footage. But the footage it takes requires a lot of hops to jump through. Not many editing packages can use this without converting first.
