Summary: I bought this a few years ago and was thrilled that #1. It took two SD cards! #2. It was very lightweight and easy to use (I never figured out how to upload directly to Youtube because I edit my video too much... The microphone on this is so-so, and if you are going to use it 'professionally' I wouldn't recommend it. I would get a camcorder that has the option for an external microphone. But it did the job.
Excerpt: Very shortly after the repaired camcorder was returned, the automatic lens cap broke and refused to open. Not wanting to pay to have the camera fixed, yet again, I was forced to break the lens cap off of the camera, leaving the lens unprotected. All in all, my camera still works great, but I wouldn’t recommended purchasing it. Perhaps the updated version is improved, but the GZ-HM200 isn’t worth the cost in repairs.
Summary: This is a highly portable device with some clever design features and some major flaws. Because the camera shutter is where the record button normally sits, and the record button is terribly placed, it is very hard to hold steady AND hit Record or Pause. The menus are terribly arranged and the up/down slider is imprecise and tends to jump over desired options.
Pros: Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Cons: All images are dark, Badly placed Record butto, Common functions are buri, Complicated To Operate, Imprecise controls, No External Mic Input, Poor In Low Light
Summary: PRO: This is a beautiful compact, light and very sleek package for shooting TRUE HD videos. Truly stunning in presentation. The video results are outstanding....very accurate color rendition, crispness, etc. CON: 1. The concept of recording on SD cards is brilliant. Pop it into the camera, shoot your video, get to your computer, remove the card, plug into your computer, copy over the video shots. NOT !
