Summary: Bought the camera because we have two grandchildren and also in September 2011 we have 30 year anniversary and am planning a cruise in the Greek islands. I am very pleased with the camera so far - a perfect shot in clear weather and with great quality. The other day we were on a trip and took pictures inside the cave. Were pretty decent shots, to my surprise! As a disadvantage is that no self illuminating lamp and the lens cap is not integrated and can be lost.
Summary: I ordered this to replace an old camcorder - what a fab little camera. Very easy to use and transfer to PC - good battery life - super quality picture. Good price paid on ebay for product - although came with an american plug fitted but supplied with adapter. Very small and light - easy to fit into a bag. Got a hard case from Amazon to fit this particular model of camera and very pleased with product overall.
Excerpt: I also found the included software to not be very good, and it’s also discouraging that it is only available for windows. Generally, I don’t think that the Everio is a very bad camera, and if I hadn’t used my Canon before, I probably would have been impressed by it. However, I found it to have just far too many flaws, and I think it’s worth it to save the extra cash to get the Canon HG20, which is nearly identical in terms of features, but just feels much better.
