  • Summary: Camera received had been used. Box was torn up and it had been visibly used. Casing around camera was scratched. All attachments had been opened. Very upset with Walmart, mainly about sending me a floor model/ or a returned camera.

  • Summary: No view screen, no internal memory, has a fisheye lens so pictures are distorted, requires an app to preview pictures (try pulling that one off underwater!), after full charge the battery went dead overnight. Returning it today. I would not recommend this camera, you can buy a digital camera for the same price that is waterproof and just as tough but actually takes real pictures

  • Summary: Wile quality of video is great the the color on it sucks I would rather go with the nano campro or the vivitar 787 they are not as good video only by a little bit but the color that they produce are outstanding and they come with many more accessories then this expensive one they also have screens built on them that a plus go with one of these 2 first.

  • Summary: Bought this on black Friday for the $199. Red light came on to charge the battery so I charged it and turned it off until Christmas eve. The camera would not power on or off on Christmas eve. Tried charging it on every computer and none would recognize the USB. Took the battery out several imes and waited. Still nothing, then a random beep and a red light. Tried to use the camera and none of the buttons would work. Screen went blank and light went off.

Hero3 White vs. Hero2: Not even close

D. Harms, Amazon
29 May 2013
  • Summary: I purchased the GoPro Hero3 White Edition of the camera thinking that I'd save a few dollars and at least get the same quality camera as the older Hero2 with the added bonus of the built-in wifi. Boy was I was wrong. I used the camera for the first time on a video shoot at a major rowing event. It was a bright sunny day with beautiful blue skies reflecting off the deep blue water.

Lovely Package - Incompetent Design and Support

K. Biba, Amazon
29 May 2013
  • Summary: Just got a Hero3 White to replace a Hero2 that did heroic work on high power amateur rockets. The good news is a very compact design. The bad news is an impossible job getting it to work. 1. The camera MUST be upgraded to latest firmware out of the box. 2. The instructions in the package recommend that the update be done via the web. 3. The web update process simply does not work on my MacBook Air under Mac OS X 10.8.

Warning regarding wifi, firmware issues and general review (March 2013)

DH, Amazon
3 March 2013
  • Summary: Edit: apparently the same review is tagged to both the Hero 3 White and Black, which makes no sense since they are entirely different, but I guess I'm going to have to edit this to cover both cameras. Here goes: I'm a current Hero 2 HD owner. I ordered a Hero 3 Black and Hero 3 White from GoPro themselves. I ordered a Wifi bacpac for my Hero 2, two Battery BacPac's for Hero 3 and a second Hero 3 Black from Amazon. I wanted all my cameras to be remotely controllable.
