Great First Camera

Sean, Amazon
1 August 2012
  • Summary: I got this camera 3 years ago for my 13th birthday as I found myself getting more and more interested in filming. It was a great first video camera due to the easy-to-use concept. I brought this camera everywhere, filming just about everything and the fact that it was so small made it so easy to bring along with me wherever I want. The video quality was a tad bit lower than I had anticipated, but this was very easy to get over.

God Bless all of you folks who warned me about the battery!

Jimmy Ray, Amazon
19 March 2011
  • Summary: This is a nice little mini-camcorder that did a great job at recording priceless information for me at a dance seminar. It's ease of use and protability has helped to create some great video which I will refer to again and again in the future for further study and practice. Thank God I had another set of batteries with me, because it went dead about 2/3rds through the Seminar and I had to do a quick battery replacement (which fortunately is all I needed to get me up and...

I like it!

brett joseph, Amazon
28 October 2010
  • Summary: I really like this camera, but I don't love it. Things I like. It's small and light weight. Really easy to use. Really easy to download. Comes with a little baggy for storage. The quality of the picture is excellent outdoors on a tripod, or standing really still. Built in memory storage is good. Price is very good. Things I don't like. No Optical Image Stabilization, so plan on using it on a tripod, or standing very still.

Not the sleekest looking digital video camera, but surprisingly good for what it is

David Pearlman "sound fanatic", Amazon
15 July 2010
  • Summary: I've been through a bunch of digital video cameras at this point: The Creative Vado, the Kodak Zi8, the Flip Ultra (this one), plus video that you can capture with a point and shoot camera. Let's preface this review with the following: NONE of these pocketable digital video cameras holds a camera to a good quality traditional video camera. That applies not just to the latest generation video cameras, but even to older generation 8mm (or DVD-R) cameras.

  • Summary: The video quality is ok, not great. But its super easy to use, just pop in two AA batteries, video, plug into the computer and go. Easy editing as well!

One of the best purchases for us!

J. Krieger "hautemominkc", Amazon
14 February 2010
  • Summary: We never used our big old camcordered because it was too much of a hassle but with this we take videos everywhere all the time. We have taken more videos in the last three months than we did in the whole previous five years. I have continued to recommend it to all of my friends. Plus you can take snapshots from your videos, so if we forgot the regular camera we can still make pictures from the video!

like it

  • Summary: Works great and is simple. Gets too grainy using digital zoom though. Good color and even works in low light. I wish I could play back frame by frame ie slow motion since I'm using it to analyze skiing technique.

Just what we were expecting

book reader, Amazon
16 January 2010
  • Summary: I wanted: -the close focus feature for taking videos of my kids that are usually within arms reach (until the most recently model of the MinoHD, the 2nd Gen Ultra was the Flip with the closest focus). -an upgrade from the video mode setting on our point-and-shoot digital camera (just about anything would have satisfied this category - but we aren't huge video people so we didn't need top of the line by any means) -to stay within the budget of a gift certificate we had...

Nice, but a few wrinkles..

G. Olson, Amazon
25 December 2009
  • Summary: I bought this a while back, and it is what it advertises itself to be. I have no problem with the product. The one caveat that I would mention is this... on my PC I use a wireless USB module. It seems as though the USB connection to the FLIP conflicts with that. It usually requires that I reboot the PC and my wireless router (with the FLIP unplugged) in order to get my wireless internet working again. It's just a toy, and it's fun.
