Summary: Doesn't work!!! I got to record for literally 5 seconds before it ended and read "File Error". There's seemingly nothing I can do to get rid of this problem. Horrible. DON'T waste your money on this.
Summary: I had been searching for almost a year for a video camera based on price and quality. I even purchased one and returned it almost immediately because it turned out to be junk. Then I saw this DXG camera on Amazon.com. The sale price was unbelievable, so I decided to purchase it. I am an amatuer photographer at best, but after following the easy directions, I was taking beautiful HD videos from the very beginning.
Summary: I bought this camera as a Christmas present for my son last year. He has used it many times this year, mostly on fishing trips, and we are very impressed with the camera. For the price, it can't be beat. My son wanted it primarily as a movie camera, but I was most impressed with the stills. It is a very simple camera, and therefore very easy to use. For those who claim that it is only a 5X optical zoom, please look at your camera with you eyes open.
Summary: I don't understand the objections some make about this little wonder. First of all the complaint that the zoom is only 5X puzzles me. Mine is 20X. I found the picture quality to be very good, and like most small cameras you have to use a tripod if you are addicted to zooming. I bought two extra batteries through Amazon for less about $17 including postage. I now can shoot for a couple of hours or more (wedding video) Put it this way.
Summary: So far I have been happy with the camcorder. The pictures, and video's have turned out great, alot better that I thought they would for the price. I also have a Kodak Dx6490 it takes the KLIC-5001 battery, this battery will work in the DXG-595v, also the battery is 2000mAh, it last longer than the stock battery, and it works with the charger that comes with the camcorder, just make sure you match up the pos, and neg, when you charge the battery.
Summary: The camera isn't bad for a normal video device but it's not worth 2 cents for HD. The focus isn't the best and the camera doesn't handle low light well either. In HD mode, the video undulates and moves in all directions when viewing. It can make one seasick. I sent an email asking about this problem and have never received a response. If you are looking for a normal video camera, it's not bad. The single shot isn't bad either if outdoors and have enough light.
Summary: We bought this camcorder just before going on a "hiking vacation" in Southern Utah & the Grand Canyon North Rim. We hiked over 50 miles of the North Rim, Zion, Bryce & Red Canyon trails and returned home with over 24 GigaBytes of .MOV's & JPG's. We had no idea as to what to expect, as to image quality on a 1080P Hi-Def TV, until after we returned home. Quite frankly, we didn't expect very much considering the very low price.
