Summary: This camcorder came with a cassette tape, which I couldn't really figure out (in terms of how to get the videos off the camera and onto my computer). I wanted a simple camera that uses SD cards so I could use the cards I already have lying around from my digital camera and that I could just take out and plug right into mylaptop. So I returned this and bought a Sony Handycam that I am very happy with.
Summary: I rated this one already, I remember, but they keep asking for it, so here goes again. The camcorder works perfectly. The price was extremely reasonable. I especially like the fact that the seller was willing to give a 30 day guarantee.
Summary: This camera is decent. Don't be fooled by the USB port though. It is only used to transfer picture files, NOT video. There is a separate fire wire port for that. It takes nice video and has a decent mic for picking up audio. In a high volume setting like recording a live band it doesn't hold up very well. The audio get quite distorted.
Summary: The Canon ZR950 s a great beginner camera. It was my first camcorder and I have filmed many things on it including a full 25 minute documentary. It's very easy to manage and travel with and this comes in handy. Comes with a microphone with has really come in handy and the LCD screen is reversible.
Pros: Compact, great quality
Cons: The ZR950 has no audio inputs so one must rely on the microphone built in. Also if it shaken slightly the DV can be destroyed.
