Despite the trend towards tapeless DV camcorders, Canon has released three new MiniDV models for 2008, including the entry level ZR900. It's hard to fault the Canon ZR900 when it comes to price: this MiniDV camcorder offers one of the least expensive ways to enter the world of digital video recording. While this is clearly a basic unit aimed at budget consumers, it offers a couple of features you wouldn't normally expect to find on an entry-level DV camcorder. Read more

Canon ZR900 MiniDV 4 Canon ZR900 MiniDV Camcorder with 41x Optical Zoom Bought this camcorder as a graduation gift for my 13 year old niece. She already has an iMac and a digital camcorder so this camera fit in perfectly and she is able to take great videos and edit them in iMovie. She loves to make movies with her ZR900 and the the size, features and price is right. We already have an entire DVD put together of our 4th of July party just two weeks ago. Originally, I bought the product to serve as a way to play/rewind/fast forward miniDV tapes for editing purposes. That purpose is great. General recording is o.k. for the price. Picture on the monitor is often better than what is downloaded. Basic camera... gets the job done. If you are looking for a GREAT picture ... you will need to spend more. Read more
