Summary: DO NOT EVER GET THIS CAMCORDER! EVER!! Sure it works for the first year, but after the first year or so, you will start noticing strange noises coming through the camera, and you WILL eventually get the black screen of death. Once you get "THE SCREEN" you are basically done with that camera. The majority of people who get this camera also get this strange, weird problem. And as far as I know, there is no way around it.
Summary: It was the first time i have made a purchase of that type on the internet, i knew the prouduct would be used, but had over looked a few details about what it came with , so i got what i ordered . and hope to be more through next time apone rash desisions. as for ther help on my not being too happy , they are awsome at helping you through your purchase!
Summary: When I received this camera, it had no instructions on how to use. I did "google" for advise, found it only rated a 7.5 in workmanship/usability. I had no idea where battery compartment was. Battery light did indicate that battery needed changing. After reading on computer, when a new battery is inserted into camera, battery keeps running , ie. you have a dead battery after about 48 hours with no way to change it.
Summary: Its a SD format Camcorder, with that stated the Camcorder works smooth and sound. The Video, when used with Firewire, works very well. The Camcorder Struggles with Bright or Dark places. The best thing, is Canon support will help you on any question on your Product... I own two of these Camcorders and ask questions on Product..
Summary: Well, this one (canon zr80) didn't work when I got it on Ebay. I'm not a camera tech, but what I have learned so far in researching the problem indicates that these older Canon tape based camcorders often suffer circuit board degradation that is age related, not use related. This one reports "moisture detected" and no amount of drying efforts have had any effect. Thus it won't even accept a tape in the transport mechanisim.
Summary: My 83 year old mother needed to replace her 35mm camera. She is not into technology, even though digital cameras are easy to use for many. I searched for a camera for weeks in the local chain stores until a coworker suggested I surf ebay. Sure enough I was very grateful that there were a large selection of 35mm cameras just waiting to find a new home! I placed a bid, won the bid and paid the piper. My mother and I were amazed when the camera came.
Summary: I love this camera because it is easy to use, has a date imprint, auto rewind, auto red eye out, and auto rewind. I had one brad new years ago and just used it till it couldn't take being rattled around in my purse any more. It was a great camera and took a real beating. This one is for my 79 year old mother who needs the date imprint and auto rewind and a point and shoot feature. Easy to use and reliable. I would buy another for myself if I didn't need a zoom lens.
Summary: I bought this camera 4 years ago for $480. Recently I replaced with Sony HDR-SR10. The indoor/low light picture quality is extremely poor. Its CCD stop working within an year. Cannon repaired it for me. Later I came to know that it is a fundamental problem of this Camcorder. After that the quality was lost further. The footage is full of grains even at very high quality recording using a new DVC tape. NOW I AM AFRAID EVEN TO LOOK AT ANY OF CANON'S CAMCORDERS.
