Excerpt: We received this camcorder as a baby shower gift and we love it. It is easy to use for a beginner and takes good video. The only issue we had was when we didn't have a digital camera we tried to take still pictures and the quality is poor. This camcorder has good battery life and is easy for everyday use.
Excerpt: This Video Camcorder just quit working one day when we needed to videotape a very special activity. It was still under warranty so we sent it in to be repaired & didn't get it back until several month later so missed out on several other important actities we wanted to videotape. When we finally got it back it worked for only a couple of months then the same problem occurred. The warranty had then expired so we never got it fixed again.
I would not recommend this camera because of its unreliability.

Summary: Great litle camera, but not reliable, Our first purchase broke down and was repaired without charge from the factory. It broke down again, a completely different problem, this time not under warranty. So we bought a used camera on ebay which works fine so far. Out first camera had not seen a lot of use. I would not recommend this camera because of its unreliability.
Canon fixed problems they had with this version from the earlier cameras.

Summary: Unlike the ZR60, the ZR70 is far more versatile with more storage capability and ease of use. Auto-focus, battery life, and night vision recording in low light are the features I appreciate the most. I upgraded from the ZR60 due to the video wentout on it, and it was more economical to upgrade than to repair. These camera's are plentiful and inexpensive. I like the versatility of using either a tape or storage card. Ample plugins as well.
Summary: I was very excited to receive the Cannon ZR70MC however, the camera no longer works. The only thing I see on the camera is a black screen. I feel I just lost all my money and I feel very bad about buying this camera. I NEED HELP. Like another camera.
If you insist on buying one, don't expect it to last.

Summary: Stay away from the ZR series camcorders. I had a ZR65mc that suddenly stopped ejecting. This one did the same. I see countless reports from others affirming the bad design. Also, the audio defaults to 12-bit 32K so you have to go into the menue every time to change it to something listenable (16-bit 48K). This particular one clearly still samples at 12-bit 32K even in the 16-bit 48K mode, though my ZR65 did not have that issue. AVOID!
