It's a huge move from the consumer model to a Pro model camera but worth it
16 September 2014
Summary: Having only used consumer video equipment, I was taken back by the total control you have over any shooting situation. Luckily, I have been an avid still photographer for years so I had a good understanding of lighting and aperture control. I am still working on the sound side of things, but I have already conquered some stumbling blocks. The size and balance seems a little difficult to me but I will continue to adjust.
Summary: I had always wanted one of the these Canon XL Pro model Camcorders but was never able to afford one when they were fairly new. Now with other HD models out there these camcorders are a fantastic value. First this is a pro model camcorder and it is not light. You can hand hold it of course but my recommendation is to purchase the Canon TA-100 tripod adapter and use it on a tripod if possible, for the best results. They will rival HD if you shoot this way in my opinion.
Summary: Takes wonderful video. Just as anticipated arrived on time for the show and went straight to work. I am very petite so after an hour it does get heavy, we ordered the tripod and that is a lifesaver. Really enjoy this.
Summary: Camera (packed in its own bubble wrap) and accessories were shipped in a standard shipping box, packed in peanuts. All arrived in excellent condition, within the shipping times promised. Camera came with a 20x zoom lens. It served its purpose, for the shoot. It had great picture quality, when upscaled. But, the main feature that I liked about the camera, is it can take different lenses. The camera is very easy to work with. The hand grip was comfortable.
