Summary: The is a really good camera and a great camera for the money. Don't pay any attention to the last post. This camera has an iris ring and MANY pro features. I don't think a wedding videographer would know what pro features look like. If you are a pro and know how to get good looking video you can achive it with this camera. I would get a bigger battery, mostly to even the weight to make hand-held shooting more comfortable. The lens is great. Canon makes the best lenses.
Pros: Durable, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Versatile
Summary: I have always loved the Canon XL series of cameras. I bought the XL-2 and loved that almost all the controls are on the exterior of the camera. You don't have to go searching through the menus which is a plus. I just bought the XL-H1a the best feature for me that you don't find to many other cameras is the ability to change lens. I also bought the x6 wide angle that canon makes. This has been a real simple transition moving to the new camera.
Pros: Comfortable to Operate, Durable, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Simple Controls, Versatile
Summary: Fired it up right out of the box and into a shoot. Worked great. Solid performance. Controls well laid out. Excellent image. Splitting the model for those of us who don't need the jack pack and reducing the cost is a winner.
Pros: Comfortable to Operate, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound
