Video performance is very good with the Canon XH A1 thanks to the inclusion of three 1/3” CCDs. In auto mode, the colors appear pretty much steady across the board. In bright light you will not be able to shoot noise free, but it is safe to say that things will not get too far out of control.

As far as low light performance is concerned it appears that the Canon XH A1 is superior to anything else on the market. Noise increases a bit over bright light shooting, but not so much that it is extremely noticeable.

The Canon XH A1 is much smaller than its XL H1 counterpart, and this has presented some issues. For instance, a lot of buttons were forced to be crammed into a smaller area. This may bother you at first, but once you become used to the operation you should be able to adjust.
