Excerpt: Cannon is known for putting out great products, and the XA25 completely lives up to the Cannon name. The 20X digital zoom is impressive. And the duel XLR audio add on is a must have for solo shoots. Thanks for the great price and product, B&H!
A solid performer with one "gotcha" that's annoying...

Summary: We use 3 of these as live production stage cameras & they perform great in fairly low light. I went with the XA25 for the wifi access, and while better than most wifi interfaces (I'm looking at you, Sony), we never need to log in and adjust things. We were highly pleased right out of the box. ONE ANNOYING THING ABOUT THE WIFI: I thought this camera would connect into my existing network and act as a mini server for me to log in and adjust the white balance and exposure.
Summary: I had to return this item inasmuch as it did not have an essential function required in my industry. I have to have an onscreen date and time stamp generator which is missing in this version of the Canon camera line. It was with regret that I had to return it since it is otherwise an excellent camera. Amazon was prompt in allowing my return and reimbursing the purchase price, including my return shipping costs.
Excerpt: I have been using the Canon XA25 Professional HD Camcorder to capture local events. The camera is a very high quality unit, feels solid and performs great. Although packaged in a small chassis, it has a respectable feature set. My only concern when using the camera is nose weight (especially after adding a shotgun mic and any additional attachments).
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound
Excerpt: Love the image quality and ease of use of this video camera. This was purchased to do interviews and lecture capture at a University. Lightweight, easy to use and lots of great features. We use the HD-SDI out to go straight into a streaming box that allows us to publish live conferences. Great camera, strong image quality.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom, Zoom range/performance
Summary: I purchased three of these cameras primarily for the SDI output capabilities. Unfortunately one of them has already been sent to Canon repair twice because of a terrible focus issue where the camera keeps hunting like crazy. In addition to that one problematic unit, the other two work but I'm constantly disappointed by their slow focusing. I would not recommend these if all you need in an SDI capable studio camera. Instead, look at the new Blackmagic studio cameras.
Excerpt: Church sanctuary event videography has been a primary focus of my ministry for the last 10 years and basis for my review. The Canon XA25 has proven to be a tremendous benefit in optimizing my workflow and the quality of the result. The dual SD card slot recording feature is number one time saver because we conduct as many as 4 events on a given Sunday. One 32 GB SD card stores 4 hours of MP4 formatted continuous HD video. Two cards basically lasts all day.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD
Excerpt: I've very impressed with the build quality. It doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. Our office was extremely happy with the video quality and I look forward to diving into the user manual to fully explore its capabilities.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Large Clear LCD
