Exceptional Versatility and Performance

Michael S James, B&H Photo

 • Excerpt: Church sanctuary event videography has been a primary focus of my ministry for the last 10 years and basis for my review. The Canon XA25 has proven to be a tremendous benefit in optimizing my workflow and the quality of the result. The dual SD card slot recording feature is number one time saver because we conduct as many as 4 events on a given Sunday. One 32 GB SD card stores 4 hours of MP4 formatted continuous HD video. Two cards basically lasts all day.
 • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD

 • Excerpt: I've very impressed with the build quality. It doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. Our office was extremely happy with the video quality and I look forward to diving into the user manual to fully explore its capabilities.
 • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Large Clear LCD

Great little field camera

John, B&H Photo
16 December 2013
 • Excerpt: Handles well, very versatile, modular, manual control over everything, though it's also very easy to operate in full-auto, and does a good job with it. 20x zoom is very nice. If only this thing had genlock and timecode! But if you don't need those, this is a very, very solid unit that does the job in many different situations.
 • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance

Great Cam...DIdn't get the extras! : (

2 December 2013
 • Excerpt: I ordered this Camera from B&H about a month and a half ago, and was disappointed to see it offered now with some very useful extras, that I could use now! But that of course takes nothing away from how good this Camera is! Unquestionably the best one sensor camera on the market and outperforms some 3 sensor cams that I have used in the past. One of the biggest gripes I have had with "Pro" cameras is not having auto focus.
 • Pros: Featuer Rich, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Manual control, Zoom range/performance
 • Cons: Vignetting

Wierd Video Format Settings

LV Dan, B&H Photo
27 November 2013
 • Excerpt: I only consider this camera to be good for one recording format: 1920x1080 at 59.94 in AVCHD. All other formats require very strict limitations. For instance, we work in 1280x720p59.94 in MP4 at 35Mb/s. This camera cannot do that. In fact, the only 720P format allowed is 720p29.97 at 4Mb/s. So one cannot actually select the raster, frame rate and compression level independently of the other.
 • Cons: Complicated To Operate, Limited Formats

No quick settings in and out of the most used features.

My Amazon Profile, Amazon
25 November 2013
 • Summary: XA20, XA25, HF G30 (same cmos, same menus) This camera works great for my use of corporate video recording. However it doesn't meet it's potential. I'd hope that firmware, Magic Lantern or SDK would solve. 1) It is great to have a camera control unit via WiFi - but as soon as this camera begins recording you lose control of iris and other settings. 2) The user interface / menu takes a while to know - and to quickly get to the most used settings.

Awesome camera!

 • Summary: I've been waiting for this camera for a LOOOONG time. Canon got so many things right with this entry-level pro camcorder. The menus work so much better than the XA10. Just the look and feel of the body speaks quality. I love the built-in lens cap. And the Wifi is a dream come true. I'm a one-man band, shooting solo on a lot of three-camera events.

Versatile little machine!

John, B&H Photo
24 September 2013
 • Excerpt: I was looking for a camera that I could use to record conferences, awards ceremonies, maybe some sports - and possibly be used in multi-camera studio-setup productions as well. The excellent image quality of this camera is a solid foundation for all the modular, "when needed" goodies that it also has. The full-auto mode is quite good for run-and-gun and point-and-shoot (home videos..

Great Camera!

TVX Ted, B&H Photo
17 September 2013
 • Excerpt: Canon finally came out with a small camera with a big zoom! The Lanc controller and the ability to shoot to multiple formats at the same time is extremely handy. Picture quality is great. Battery life on supplied battery is not quite lengthy enough, but the ability to purchase a larger one solves the problem. Would recommend highly. Have two already. Will have two more shortly.
 • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
 • Cons: Limited Battery Time
