Summary: I love this camera glad I bought it.. I have owned a hg20 for about 5 years thought it was perfect so when I wanted a new camera I bought this one same camera a little more power and space... check out this link for video shot with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?
Summary: I bought this again, when the screen died on my other camera - after 6 years (so not bad). I decided to find a new version or new camera that would work well with MACs (this doesn't), but there was nothing I could find with all the memory on a hard drive. The problems are that when the wide angle is on, edges can be seen. This requires cropping some photos. Since it doesn't work automatically with a MAC I had to purchase Toast Titanium. That converts all of the videos.
Summary: I shot a full film with this camera. The only problem was when it came to low light. Other than that, camera was really good. Check out a video here: [...] Please note that youtube lowers the quallity of the video plus I had on not so good wide angle lenses. This was filmed in full HD. One thing I cant figure out is how do I turn on my camera light. The camera description says it has a built in light, and I see it, but I cant figure out how to turn it on.
Summary: Before I purchased this camcorder I researched for about 4 months, comparing features and quality among all available consumer camcorders available. I've had this camcorder for over a year, in that time I've shot approximately 150 hours of video with it. The quality of video it produces is excellent. Low light quality is on par or higher then any camcorder you will find in the same price range.
Summary: I'm an aspiring filmmaker of high school age, and I bought the Vixia HG21 after using a low level, miniDV Canon camcorder, to bring some much-needed quality to my work. I love this camera. I've handled $20 thousand cameras geared for broadcast, worked extensively with some advanced Sony camcorders, and I still love this camcorder the same amount, the consumer-geared, little thing that it is. Firstly, the picture quality in good lighting is amazing.
Pros: The Canon Vixia HG21 is very easy and simple and awesome. It is easy to use and is ahead of its time. It offers a great variety of white balance options and it contains an amazing focus puller. And its got a bunch of memory. I never over filled it.
Cons: One problem I had was that the file output was very unfriendly. It outputted an .mts codec which was very uneasy to use without a nice editing system. Thank Goodness I bought Sony Vegas Pro 9. A bit low on the battery side.
