This is the best video camera I have ever owned but the supplied Corel video software is not compatible with Windows 7!

Summary: This is simply the best video camera I have ever owned. The picture quality is outstanding and the fact that is has an on board hard disk drive that will hold 40GB of movies is amazing. The videos are taken in 1920 X1080 high definition and you can record 5 ½ hours of video onto the internal hard disk drive while using the super HD mode. If you are recording in the LP mode you can capture 15 hours of video on the internal drive.
Can't get the recordings to play outside the camera

Summary: I'll start by saying that when I purchased this camera, and first started using it, I was very pleased. The instant-focus is great, the image quality and colors seem true to life. I say "seem" because as great as this camera might be at recording, the result will be worthless unless you only want to watch it play back on the camera's screen. To begin with, Canon is lying when they say this is true 1920x1080 progressive.
Summary: I haven't even open the box yet and will write a review about the actual camera itself later. This camera is shipped via FedEx ground out of Kalamazoo MI by Norman Camera. This is not about a timely shipment, as that was fine, this is about the customer service email I received from the respondant to my email to Norton Camera explaining my inconvience. It was my mistake I didn't have it shipped originally to my work address instead of my home address.
Pros: The camera is compact and the video looks great in the view-finder window.
Cons: - Battery life is so-so - Canon editing software is awful and incompatible with most other software - Good luck editing and viewing your videos on Windows without a complex codec download. - Hard drive was broken out of the box.
Summary: First of all, Canon is telling a big fat lie about being a Hi-Def Camera. It does not shoot and capture video in true 1920 x 1080 hi def...it uses a 1440 x 1080 format and then stretches it out to fill the screen. LIARS. Next, when you shoot video, don't try to pan, zoom or move the camera even a tiny bit. Your video will blur terribly. Forget trying to shoot things that are moving fast. And make sure you are in bright sunlight..
Summary: My wife and I purchased this camera with the intention of using it for our upcoming trip to France. We had a Sony camcorder that we liked, but was getting to be outdated. So, we wanted to upgrade to the HD quality and a hard disk so we wouldn't have to haul a bunch of tapes with us. Well...the quality of the camcorder and ease of use was great! However, during our second day in Paris, it decided to stop working! It said "Access Error".
Summary: I would give "zero" stars if I could. The camcorder was fine for 8 months. During that time, we took it to the beach once for 10 minutes to take a few pictures. We treated it like a jewel. It had not a scratch on it. One day, months after our trip to the beach, the buttons all froze. Sent the camcorder in and have simply had the worst customer experience. Canon claims that the camera is beyond economical repair and that there was "severe sand damage". Hmmmm.
