Summary: Awesome Camcorder. I bought it when HD cameras were just new to the retail consumer market back in early 2007. But this one rocked it totally! I still have it just for times when I need something running for hours on end to record HD (2014). Never failed me on the video side.
Summary: I got 2 of these for various project reasons, but being a buddign cinematographer I pertty much upgraded very fast after gettig these. they do a great job at what they do but I needed a higher standard, other wise if you are weekend warrior of parent or just someone needing good footage, this is a...
Can't get the recordings to play outside the camera

Summary: I'll start by saying that when I purchased this camera, and first started using it, I was very pleased. The instant-focus is great, the image quality and colors seem true to life. I say "seem" because as great as this camera might be at recording, the result will be worthless unless you only want to...
Beware, the video is really 1440x1080 not 1920x1080

Summary: I would have returned it if Newegg's return policy on this item allowed for it. Does not come with HDMI cable. A standard mini-HDMI to HDMI cable will work, no need to pay 10x extra for a Canon-branded cable. The included battery is pretty weak.
Pros: Decent picture quality in very well-lit situations but grainy in low-light (such as indoor lighting). Good frame-rate, saves avchd format on HDD which can be copied to PC and played without conversion. The videos it produces work fine with Kdenlive on Linux.
Cons: First the big con: It does NOT produce 1920x1080 videos. The actual video files it saves are 1440x1080. The CMOS sensor may be 1920x1080, and the mini-HDMI may output 1920x1080 to TV, but that is meaningless because it doesn't save that resolution on disk. I think it is very misleading and disapp...
Summary: buy the dm-50 microphone for awesome sound quality
Pros: I have taken this camcorder everywhere. From extreme sports to hanging with my friends, this bad boy has filmed it all. The quality is amazing and i am never afraid of running out of space with 40gigs. I have had this thing for a year and a half and it has documented all the awesome moments of my...
Cons: The battery life isn't that great after you start using it for a while. I suggest buying another battery for backup.
Summary: I bought an HG10 after seeing so many good reviews on this camcorder. However, I was disappointed by the video quality. The video of my almost two-year old Sony SR5 hard drive HD camcorder is so much better than the HG10 -much higher resolution and better color.
Summary: Canon HG10 AVCHD High Definition Camcorder with Optical Image Stabilizer
This light and easy to carry camcorder is amazing, and the price was unbeatable! The images are sharp and clean, and it's very easy to use, with very little help from the directions (which I keep handy in case I get stuck,...
Summary: In the past I have been quite loyal to Sony products. I bought this after reading great reviews about how this is superior to Sony. Additionally, I gave in to the lower price. However, although I think this camcorder is worth the price I paid, I do not agree with others that it is the greatest...
