Summary: Defects in Pixela Video Browser software and support 1. Editing instructions backwards... if you follow them you create a presentation from the cuttings, not the pieces you want to keep 2. Takes an extremely long time, especially when doing SD, as if there's a separate conversion from AVCHD to SD involved 3. There is no snapshot capability, where you can make a frame into a jpg file. 4. Support is very poor.
Great quality, difficult to use, terrible software

Summary: Before buying this camera I read a lot of online reviews that praised the HD quality, but all commented on how user-hostile the camera is. They were right. The menu doesn't work at all unless you hit the playback button, then everything is counterintuitive. It's best to set aside some time with the manual and struggle to get it set up the way you want it, then don't change anything. You won't anyway, it's just too hard.
Summary: Bought the HF-M31 version of this camera. Camera/tripod blew over in the wind and some sand got into the lens cover. Wouldn't open correctly. VERY FRAGILE! Took it to Canon repair (camera was 6 months old, still under warranty) and they want $249 to repair it!! If I'd known how fragile the shutter-style lens was, I'd either have put a UV filter over it or bought a different brand. Touch screen is TERRIBLE. Some menus you swipe up to scroll, others you swipe down.
