Summary: I bought this camcorder to do some professional videos. I was very fortunate to get it for $449. Should have bought two of them. Basically, the S200, S20, S21 are the same camera. The S200 has no memory, the 20 has 32GB and the 21 64GB built in. The 21 also is the only one with a viewfinder, which I didn't need. The price for memory was about the same price as the 20, so I bought it. I've been very pleased. It's very intuitive.
Summary: I was recently watching some daytime footage of my CANON Vixia HF-S20 on my Samsung HD flat-screen and I had to look twice to make sure it was from the camera and not a movie from my blue ray disc player. I was impressed. It was so impressive it inspired me to actually get into film production and make short movies. For the past week I have been pricing film gear like small camera jib cranes, tripod dolly's and waterproof cases.
Summary: I worked as a professional cinematographer for years. Shot feature films. Still love film. So digital is still relatively new to me. My stuntman friend bought this camera to block out fight sequences and let me borrow it to shoot some tests. It is truly an amazing camera. For the price...this is perfect for posting videos online. Youtube vids...completely perfect for it. The dynamic range, as advertised, is amazing.
Summary: I'm really disappointed with this product. It is to heavy and bigger. The quality of the videos and the images are not better than a another camcorder cheaper. And the same worth about the features it has. This camcorder also came with a defect, I cannot transfers videos and photos to my computer by using the Cannon Software. The system do not recognize the device. Also, it seems there is a loose piece inside it. I do not recommend that.
Great Camera, just be prepared for a few bumps at first.

Summary: As a test, I shot about 10 minutes worth of video with this camera. Upon returning home, I connected the camera to my Mac PowerBook. Nothing happened. The computer did not recognize the camera, and it did not attempt to install anything. Next, I installed all of the included software on my Windows 7 laptop (which is brand new), and then connected to the camera to the laptop. Again, nothing. Zip. Nada. I then installed all of the latest updates for the Canon software.
Summary: I've barely even used this camera, since I just bought it, but I wanted to warn people about it. Despite no warnings on the box, the camera requires installation of an Application to get videos off the camera onto the computer (pictures come off just fine on their own... sort of). However, this software application is ONLY compatible with windows, so if you've got a Mac, don't bother buying this camcorder!!!
