Summary: My wife takes many short videos of her students during choir and drama classes and practices. This camcorder is perfect for this. The autofocus never misses, the picture is detailed and clear and setup is simple. The best feature is that it records in mP4 format which can be directly imported into an iPad, or iTunes without any additional steps. Plug the camera cord, or SD card into a computer, or with an and transfer the video instantly.
Excerpt: Grat camcorder for Family videos. Quick to start, good optical zoom, extensive features. AF is slow in low light. Wifi tool is fun but quite delayed, could do without it. Overall quite happy with the purchase.
Excerpt: Easy to use and manipulate. The on screen menus are easy to navigate. The convenience of having the memory card port on the side allows us to change cards easily without having to remove the camera from the tripod. The picture quality is outstanding.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Large Clear LCD
Excerpt: This is a very impressive camcorder for picture and quality, the Wifi option is nice if you would like to use your camcorder to monitor your house remotly, if not I recommend the VIXIA HF R500 and save some money.
It is just plain stupid. You should just simply connect to the wireless

Summary: Would have to back off the rating because of the Wi-Fi implementation. It is just plain stupid. You should just simply connect to the wireless, and all functionality in place. Stupid and ignorant.
Only fair picture, overall not pleased with this camera

Summary: I was extremely disappointed with the HF R50HD camera purchased from Costco 4 days ago and I will be returning it. I purchased this as a second camera for certain situations and found it to be unacceptable to use. The Pros: Really, in comparison with the Panasonic HDC-SD90 I purchased from Costco 3.5 years ago, there are NONE. Very surprising considering this is well over 3 years later... The Cons: 1) The lens cap is manual to open and close.
Excerpt: Very good picture for a consumer camcorder. Nice Wifi feature transfer files to your computer. Has no slots for lights or mics even though it has a mic jack. Had to purchase an attachment to attach mic or lights.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
