Excerpt: I borrowed an earlier model of this VIXIA from a friend and loved its functionality and abilities. I shot side-by-side with my Sony Alpha for an event, and I preferred the Canon Vixia. So I shopped around and bought this model the following week from B&H -- because they had the best price.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Great for interviews, Wifi sucks, Internal HD unnecessary

Summary: It's a pretty good camera for interviews in full light thanks to face recognition. Wi-Fi features don't work properly and are hidden in the menus. I would have saved the extra $$$ and buy something similar without the internal HD and Wi-Fi features. Get an extra battery.
I wished I had checked it out better before buying the Canon HF R-50

Summary: I've had my R-50 for two days and I have found two major problems. One, it it worthless in outdoor overcast conditions, you can not see the LED screen. Even in bright sun light it is vary hard to see. Two, the camera took over 4 hrs. to charge the first time and the charge didn't last 1 1/2 hrs.
Excerpt: A complete, absolute beginner, needing to record an interview with 90-year-old Veteran, IT'S THE SALESPERSON / ADVISOR / TEACHER, even more than the camcorder, that will make using it the best possible despite my total lack of experience. (Really: I very, very seldom use any kind of camera!).
