Summary: Got excellent results using this camera for a 2-hour Veteran's History Project session. The only caveat is that it picked up a hum from my headphones plugged into the AV/headphone jack (yes, I had switched it from AV to headphone). I would recommend unplugging headphones after a sound test, but I consider this user headspace-and-timing, and the issue may be with the headphones themselves.
Summary: I was looking for a good camcorder for my project, then I did many researches online. For me, I have to use a manual fouce camcorder, and this camcorder does it. It has auto fouce and manual fouce(but only with some modes), and its menu options is good for me. The only thing I complain is the menu size is pretty small, but other things are nice. I am happy to purchase it!
Summary: The canon vixia hf r40 hd is the best camcorder i've had so far! It came with plenty of features built in the camcorder like picture filters and video filters. The video quality was above par (compared to my sony handycam) and overall i was very impressed when i downloaded videos into my computer. If you're looking for a reliable flexible camcorder spend the extra dough and buy the canon vixia.
Summary: Video quality is amazing. Better than expected for the price paid. I video all of my son's high school basketball games in gyms with different light conditions. So far the videos have all been great.
Summary: I love the feel of this camcorder. It is so much more substantial than the Sony for the same price. The features are exactly what I needed. WiFi, great picture, easy zoom, remote mike. I had heard it was not good in low light, however, if you choose Scene, and Low Light, it compensated perfectly. Without the Low Light setting the picture looked orange, but with the low light setting the colors were a perfect match. Exactly the right hue and saturation.
Summary: Got this as a gift for someone who does not like transferring media using cables, SD cards, installing software onto PC , etcetera. After reading reviews about built in wi-fi and remote streaming to any portable device, this seemed like a perfect match. I tried browsing files using windows tablet, IOS and Mac OSX. Effortless and easy although downloading videos onto iPhone seemed unavailable. Remote camera access and control is great but has a 5 second lag.
