Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Excerpt: Good camcorder for general uses. I use it in my hot rod car, for family events and anything else I want on video. It does a good job for it's size. I compared it to others in it's class and price range and decided on this one for the quality of the Canon name and it had better video than some competitors.
Excerpt: I use this Video camera to record activities of the club I belong to. I have a dji phantom 2 with a Gopro attached. The footage combines very well. It's best to use a card reader to upload video to computer. I could not get large files to upload fromthe the camera. The video color is very good but you will need to do some work on the sound in post. I have not tried the external speaker jack.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom, Zoom range/performance
Summary: This is a good camcorder. I purchased it for my mother. I think the only thing I hate about it is having to set my memory card for it and then I wouldn't be able to use my SD card with any other device I own or i risk deleting it.
Summary: Got excellent results using this camera for a 2-hour Veteran's History Project session. The only caveat is that it picked up a hum from my headphones plugged into the AV/headphone jack (yes, I had switched it from AV to headphone). I would recommend unplugging headphones after a sound test, but I consider this user headspace-and-timing, and the issue may be with the headphones themselves.
Great little camcorder, but I hope you didn't buy it for the smartphone control.

Summary: The camera works as advertised, has all the specs I needed.... but unfortunately the smartphone app leaves a lot to be desired (at least on Android). You won't be able to install it directly from the play store for a lot of devices (no support for the Galaxy S4, nexus line of devices, the HTC One and OneX, etc.), so just installing it will be a pain. (Apparently, it's only compatible with iOS 5, too, so it's not like you'll have much luck with an iPhone, either).
