Summary: I've had this camera for 2 years now and use it regularly. For an inexpensive video camera it takes amazing videos. I recorded a hummingbird in my backyard and the detail and color when I played it on my large screen tv was quite impressive. It's not the greatest in low light situations indoors, a bit grainy, but I wouldn't expect it to be for a camera in this price range.
Summary: I had been using a camera that needed mini DV's to film basketball games that I then make into highlight videos for my former grade school. This camera works perfectly for what I need (quick zoom, descent quality picture, and no more film)! It was also incredibly important for me that it would work with iMovie and it does with ease. I just plug in the camera, set it to view, and iMovie recognizes it right away. Great so far!
Summary: Canon camcorders deliver a very nice picture and this one has the mic input. Check the specs to be sure nothing has changed, but with a mic input I use a mic that plugs into the camcorder and I place the mic into the area where I am talking or singing. That gives me great sound with no camcorder noise.
Summary: My son (9 years old) uses this camera on a daily basis to make movies. The picture and sound quality is quite good and you do not hear any noise when using the zoom in/out feature during recording like some other cameras.
