Summary: We purchased this camera for use on a trip this summer. It worked well. It was a great value. Two things keep it from a 5 star rating. 1) The included battery lasts 20 to 30 minutes. We added the generic batteries and charger. However, the generics are not supported by the battery life indicator on the camera. This turned out to be a minor issue. 2) The greater issue was the difficulty in seeing the screen on a sunny day. Our summer trip was on a boat.
Summary: This video camera is good for around the house stuff. I would not recommend this for a vacation because the battery life is short. Also the software does not work in my 2011 Macbook Pro but the Mac is able to pull the video off on its own. For the money I cant complain to much.( I went for the factory refurbished at 159.00) No way I would pay over 300 for this new. Its a good camera for doing youtube videos or around the home stuff.
Summary: Have had the camera for a bit over a month now. I'm not completely sold on it. Things I like about it: Its small, It uses SDHC cards, and the videos seem decent. Things I dont like: I have a Apple iMAC computer....and if I do NOT want to use imovie to import (say i just want to store the vids from my sdhc card to an external hard drive)....i have to input the movies into imovie first--then I can drag them into my External HD.
Summary: I have owned several Canon camcorders over the years - all ordered from Amazon - except this one. Even thought what the other reviewers say about the camera are true, nothing is mentioned about the software that comes with the computer. My previous camera was the Vixen HF R21 which had much better and friendly software.
Summary: We got this camera with a great accessory package from Costco and compared it to a JVC GZ-HM40 (HM35, E10) we purchased from Walmart. End game - video the kids at all the myriad activities. The menu is fairly intuitive and the large touch screen display is nice, especially when you get used to touch screens on everything electronic these days. Small, lightweight (almost too small).
Summary: Very good camera. When I was shopping for a new camera, I saw this and waited about 6 weeks for it to go on sale. Excellent video quality and easy to use. I would have given it five stars, but I have two issues with the camera. 1. The standard battery that comes with the camera only lasts about 25 minutes or so. You will need to buy an extended battery at a little over $100.
Summary: I purchased this Camcorder on the day it came out and had high expectations. I had a number of Canon camcorders before and I really like their picture quality. However, when I used this one for the first time, I run out of battery after 20 minutes and had only about 12 minutes worth of footage. For a consumer product in this day and age, this is completely unacceptable. Also, the included software does not work on a Mac...
Summary: Canon Vixia HF R300 Full HD Flash Memory Camcorder with 51x Advanced Zoom I fully charged the battery that came with this camcorder and found that the battery last only 35min if you let it sit without using the zoom, have the camcorder set at the best quality and use the simple light setting on the screen. If you can find another battery you better get another battery since my battery ran out without using the zoom.
