Summary: This camera is the worst purchase ever. It comes with three manuals and each one of them keeps referring to the other one - it's a mess! Plus, it is extremely difficult to transfer the videos to your PC, let alone to your mac. I have already spent over 3 days tying to figure this out and I consider myself a tech-savvy person. Forget it! A real nightmare!
The external inputs are faulty & the battery life is horrible. Skip it!

Summary: I bought the vixiar30 refurbished from to different sellers & both had the same problems. They had faulty inputs for both mic & earphones along with a very very short battery life panning 5-15minute only. The camera touch screen was a nice feature as well as the wifi capabilities. However, if you can't use an external mic or earphones you are out of luck.
Summary: This Camera is so beautiful. The Pictures are like you can touch them...the movies are crystal clear. Great choice for me and my business. I will use this camera alot with ease and great pleasure. Thank you!
Summary: Do not buy this product. Don't get me wrong, I am a die-hard Canon fan. Two professional DSLRs, a telephoto lens, several point-and-shoots. All great. This product, however, is awful: - battery life of less than 30 minutes - bizarre digital video format I've never seen before, which is a pain to convert to .mp4 or .avi - horizontal lines appear on and off during video files - even without the horizontal lines, the full HD is no better than Canon point-and-shoot HD video,...
Summary: I purchased this camera to replace my Sony Digital 8 cameras. Its probably is a good camera for some, but don't purchase this if your a semi-pro or pro. I have a big collection of videos on YouTube, and decide to go HD. This camera has no view finder. So everything has to be viewed in the small touch screen. With any photography, best results is when the sun is to your back, its extremely hard to see any image on the screen, no mater what you do.
Summary: I am not a photographer and need not to be to use a device which I like to use it for taking video or still picture of my family and friends in an event. All fine, the quality of the picture and the options this device has. But, without power how are we going to use an electronic device. I mean the bad battery which is capable of supplying power for less than 15 to 20 minutes. I can show this camera to my friends and family members. but, I cannot use it.
Summary: If you need a camcorder and don't mind carrying around a 40 pound car battery to run it off of, the HF R30 might be your cup of tea. There probably are a few reasons to buy this camera, but you should ignore all positive reviews because ultimately, this product is shrouded by a veil of insanely poor battery management and design.
